re: Can Louisiana ever be fixed?
Louisiana is one of the richest states for natural resources and has been producing oil and gas since the early 20th century
I heard Jordan Peterson talking about resource rich areas. He insists it always ends up bad for them. They get taken over and stripped of resources by foreig...

Retirement investment options and expected return
Posted by ShermanTxTiger on 5/10/24 at 12:42 pm
I am about to retire and wonder if anyone here has crossed over that beautiful bridge. If so, what does your portfolio look like? Annuities? (Not a personal fan of annuities) What is the expected rate of return on investments?
Looking to see what 1.2 million in 401K will yield....
re: 63% of new IRS audits were on folks making less than $200K.

Simple logic should have prevailed but it didn't....
1.-People making over 400K a year have alot to lose and cheating on taxes seems like a high risk/low reward scheme. Most have accountants that likely aren't coloring outside the lines.
2. -The pool of folks making over 400K is not very deep ...
I have had to replace two ACs at houses I have owned (replaced the unit that was there when I moved in) and went Trane both times. I know the gentleman who did the installs and services my unit. Honest and very fairly priced.
In my mind there were only three options:

re: Ruud vs Carrier AC units
Posted by ShermanTxTiger on 5/8/24 at 10:05 pm
I built in 2022. 2900 sft living with a 3.5 ton and a 3.0 ton Lennox systems. The cost was $14,500.00 for all with ducts. My AC bills rarely exceed $125.00.
The units aren't loud but I have heard quieter.
I am a fan of Lennox so far. I have had Carrier and really liked it. I will never ever,...

My advice is worth the price you paid for it. Good luck. ...
re: Saban hung up his whistle because of this new landscape

Scholarship limits killed Barry Switzer as HC. He couldn't stockpile tons of talent with 200 scholarships.
Transfer portal and NIL killed Saban. He can't win recruits with process and rings alone. He didn't like re-recruiting the same players over and over again. ...

Three years ago I really wanted to live on or near the beach or on a lake. The logistics of lake living was not desirable. Coastal living was too expensive due to housing, insurance and taxes.

Unless we soil ourselves, we are getting in.
We have a favorable finish to the schedule. We dont have to win them all but we do need to win the ones we should win. No more sweeps allowed. That would be soiling ourselves....
