re: Earthquake While Travellig

Posted by NCTigerFan on 5/26/24 at 6:33 am
I lived in California for for over a decade and experienced a number of relatively mild earthquakes during that time, before moving to North Carolina. Our first vacation back to California was in 2019. We flew from Raleigh to San Diego on July 4th and checked into a bay facing hotel room with a ...

re: Advice for Hawaii Trip
we flew into Honolulu and hopped on a cruise ship for a week
We have this booked for July 2026. Would you recommend the excursions you mention above? We've been to Hawaii many times because we lived in California for 15 years and it was easy to do from there. Not so much from ...

re: Summer Plans?

We are in the process of taking our daughter to all 50 states. This summer is #48 Washington (Seattle, Mt Rainier NP, Olympic NP) and #49 Alaska (cruise). We live in NC and are also visiting all 100 counties, so we may do something towards that. Have to go to Myrtle Beach and Orlando in Jun...
I like the Farmers Market, the NC Museum of History and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences (and I'm not even a big museum person). The two museums are across the sidewalk from one another and could easily fill a day. If you have kids with you, I like Marbles and Pullen Park. For hiking/biking/etc....
No, but we traveled about 3 hours to get into the path of totality for the 2017 eclipse. We had fun, and my daughter (then 7, now 14) still talks about that time her parents drug her to an eclipse and gave her moon pies and Sunny D for snacking. I'd do it again, but we aren't that close for this o...

re: Heisman trophy case question

No, I don't think so. Those are in football ops with the national championship trophies. I've seen them (and the renovated locker room with the sleep pods, etc.) while in the building for the Golden Cleats Women's Combine (which, if you happen to be female, I highly recommend). Agree that the T...

I bought a Lincoln Moneyguard policy when I was in my early 30s. I'm 50 now. It was a one-time $25K premium. At this time, the death benefit is $90K and total LTC benefits are $570K....

I've had luck finding Charleston hotel deals on Travelzoo. We've most recently booked the Francis Marion that way and had a nice stay. ...

re: Key Largo hotel recommendations
I didn't see the kayaks that are in that stock photo when I was there. I don't know if those are available, or not.
We've stayed at the Hampton Inn Key Largo a couple of times and echo Jax's spot-on review. On both occasions (most recently in Feb 2020), the kayaks were available t...
Going to try this, thanks. Did you blind bake the crust, or fill it raw?...
The Witchery in Edinburgh near the castle. We left Sedona and entered GCNP via the East Entrance. Spent the night at El Tovar in the Village. Left out of the same entrance, drove to Page, stopped at Horseshoe Bend, took an early afternoon tour of Upper Antelope Canyon, left Page and spent that night in Zion. I think if you are pressed...
I spent 3 years at Berkeley for law school and just went back to the region this summer for a family vacation. It's a perfectly fine place to visit but I don't think you need to extend to your time there beyond your game-centric activities. I'd echo others to spend your extra time in SF, the wine ...

re: Travel Insurance - good or bad?

For cruises in the past, I always came out better shopping for my own policy through [link=(https://www.insuremytrip.com/)]InsureMyTrip[/link]. IMO, generally better coverage for less money than buying through the cruise line. Nowadays, I've switched to multi-trip/ annual plans, so I don't deal ...

re: Tiger Stadium tours

Yes. We did it in Fall 2021 and had a great time. You meet outside of the Lawton Room and the tour includes: -- some time in the Lawton Room, where there's a short talk from the guide and a video presentation (same one they show recruits) -- large meeting-type rooms where they have placards with...
For the ones who have done both the upper and the lower is the walk/hike bad? We are going to Grand Canyon/Zion/Bryce in April and have a handicap child with us. I would love to be able to do Antelope Canyon. She is able to walk with assistance but we also have a child carrier to carry her on...
We were on a Vegas / Sedona / GC / Zion road trip. That morning we woke up at El Tovar at the GC south rim. We got up early and went out the park’s east entrance (no stopping because we had already made all our stops when coming through that entrance from Sedona), then headed north to Page. We stop...
