What are some of your favorite New Year’s Day recipes? For the past few years, I have done Treedawg’s Black eye pea Casserole (which is fabulous) with some smothered cabbage and cornbread. Looking to possibly try something new….what you got?

Fried pork chops, mashed potatoes & gravy, cabbage, purple hull peas w/ my grandma’s chili sauce, and black eyed pea dip.

Look forward to it all year.

Hoppin' John. Had never even heard of it until a few years ago. Now it's my go to.

I grew up with my mom making the traditional black eyed peas and cabbage. House always smelled like shite to ring in the new year.

I never ate it and still don’t.

I am not a huge black eyed pea fan but that casserole is sooo good! Will probably be what I stick with but wanted to see what other recipes might be out there.

This plus Folse’s Smothered Cabbage and Sausage. Hell of combo. Add ham slice or steak or pork roast and over the top you go,

This is my go-to. Everyone in my family hates cabbage, but eats this happily.

I'm not a big black-eyed pea fan either, so I did one can of B-EP, and one can of field peas. Worked out fine. I also threw in some diced, pickled jalapenos to give it a bit more kick.

I usually make a black eye pea jambalaya but not this year. I made a chicken and sausage gumbo yesterday yesterday for tomorrow.

Usually it is a big lot of white beans and greens - 1/2 turnip, 1/2 mustard - with chopped turnip root and cornbread.

I open a can of black eye peas so I cover my bases.

MIL is making cabbage rolls this year.

I try to switch it up each year while still keeping with the traditions (pork, peas, cabbage).

This year we're having glazed ham steaks, purple hull peas, potatoes in white sauce (basically milk gravy--my Mamaw's recipe), balsamic-bacon-blue cheese Brussels sprouts, deviled eggs, and Sister Schubert's rolls.

Plenty of eggnog and wine on hand, too.
