Larger, consolidated oil companies have incentives to restrain production, restricting supply to artificially sustain high prices. This is the only sentence in the entire piece that's even somewhat true.

No it’s only relevant to companies they think haven’t fallen into the climate hoax in lockstep.

They want wealthy people to not be more wealthy is the true answer.

And wanting government to rule over this is a monstrously horrible idea.

Everyday I’m reminded more and more how absolutely, undeniably correct McCarthy was all along. Shoulda have nuked Russia off the map after WWII.

And then what? Try to install another failed government that eventually falls to the Chinese or some Middle Eastern country?

How does a deal like this “undermine democracy” if it is not considered a monopolistic practice or violate antitrust?

Pissing off environmentalists is not a “threat to democracy.” In fact, I encourage it.

Idgaf about the picking up of the pieces. The eradication of commies and socialists from our nation is the only thing that matters.

"threat to democracy." Is this the bedwetters new catch phrase for things they disagree with?

Do we dare create a game where everyone drinks each time this phrase is uttered during the presidential debates?

Exactly.

For comparison sake, Google make more than Exxon last year:

quote:

Alphabet net income for the twelve months ending June 30, 2023 was $60.953B

and Apple made almost twice as much:

quote:

Apple net income for the twelve months ending June 30, 2023 was $94.760B, a 4.89% decline year-over-year. Apple annual net income for 2022 was $99.803B

So if net income and their ability to use that money to sway the populace is the problem these two should've been broken up long ago.

How about the Federal Gov't?

- 135 million employees; next largest is Wal-Mart at 2.3 mil
- rescind powers granted by legislature to executive branch (some 3 letter agencies, Dept. of Ed for example)
- give those powers back to states

Combined, Exxon and Pioneer would be the largest producer of oil and natural gas in the Permian Basin, the field that produces more than 40 percent of America’s oil.

Very misleading statement. The combined production would be roughly 15% of the production in the Permian. Not exactly monopoly numbers….

It's from the NYT. Translated - big oil gets bigger thereby making it harder for the commie / libs to have their opinions taken seriously.

These are the same folks who are mad that Toyota is investing heavily in hybrids as opposed to 100% EV's. At the spring Toyota shareholders meeting, the activists were told to pound sand, which is what Exxon Mobil is also saying by purchasing Pioneer. Both companies have an obligation to increase shareholder returns, and both see a continued profitable future in fossil fuels. Sounds reasonable to me.
