It people that throw money away.

Pretty simple.
Want a place to go where people can relax and stay to watch games or enjoy a fair meal.

You have to have a decent quality food, keep menu simple, and good service especially to push liquor.

Lately, Walk-ons lost it in my book.

I like the Mardi Gras Mahi, but one of the last times I went it was off, so now I never know if it’s going to be good or not. The waitress quality is down as well, in Lafayette.

Not sure it was mentioned but the one on corporate has a liquor license sign up, so it too must be changing hands. Went last week and while the food was hot the service was a joke. Waitress took order brought drinks and then disappeared for 45 mins. Someone else brought the food and then the waitress brought the check. I feel like newer wait staff don’t really judge their table and just time check deliver 15 mins after the food is dropped off, regardless of what’s going on at the table. I mean my nine year old could tell that 2 people hadn’t finished their food and all three of us at the table were watching football.

The one in D'Iberville, MS still seems ok on all fronts.

I’ve been twice since they opened and the food was not very good. Nothing like the quality I used to get at the Nola and BR locations several years ago.

Yeah, it’s always busy, but there’s nothing else there.

I hope so they are tremendously overpriced and underwhelming in flavor and taste. Seems like they open up and draw everyone to them then start putting out a vastly inferior product

decent poboy, and some cute waitresses

Clearly you haven't went to the Prairieville location. The waitress they serving had me in was in a very tight uniform and was very fat and not cute at all. The food, especially their po boys, are very meh and very overpriced.

since Covid:
in lafayette
broussard is still very good
kaliste saloom road is very good

in katy
the I-10 location is ok, they struggle keeping staff, kitchen can be slow

in odessa:
that location is strong, well run, very popular with four hotels right behind it

in pensacola:
by the airport is ok, decent service but the kitchen is slow

I know the thing that got me too was when they did a big menu revamp (aka took things off) about a year ago. Losing the gator wrap and the crawfish three way made me less interested in going well before the stores here closed.

It's not the waitstaff that's to blame, it's the management.

That's a massive part of it. When I waited tables in college the manager and asst manager would ride the arse of any wait staff found in the back who was not in the process of picking up food (meaning you didn't use "I'm waiting on food" as an excuse to stand around back there for 5-10 minutes). Your job was to be on the floor, waiting to be needed by the customers in your section.

These days the routine seems to be:
1. Get seated
2. Wait staff takes your drink order
3. Brings drinks
4. 10-15 minutes later they come back to take your order. At this point they MAY notice if you need a refill
5. Unless they bring a refill, you don't see them for another 10-15 minutes
6. They bring the order out then disappear until it's time for the check

During those stretches when they aren't just not checking on your table, they aren't checking on any other tables in their section because they're staying in the back to avoid having to do any more than the bare minimum.

It's part of management's job to make sure their wait staff is doing their job. If you aren't seeing them almost constantly on the floor, that's a problem.

The one in Montgomery is doing fine. Not as busy as when they opened, but still have a wait during typical times.

Service isn't the best, but frankly that is true of a lot of Montgomery restaurants. I also think service has gotten worse across the entire restaurant industry since Covid.

Another thing: just had a friend who owned an independent restaurant close up shop because the prices of labor and wholesale food was just too high to stay open. Inflation is killing a lot of businesses.

JMHO.

To the original poster,
used to frequent the one in Metarie a few times a week now Im Also here in Orlando, used to watch NFL at the Kissimmee location every sunday, and with no notice or anything they closed up in middle of week before thanksgiving this past year. I heard rumors by staff about them building up on vineland by Millenia.

Have you heard anything? Cant decide if im more pissed both orlando locations are closed up or that the gator wrap is gone

Another poster put it best if you cant make it in orlando then you have no shot. To your point i prefer walk ons to Ale house 10/10, even on walk ons worst day

We ate lunch at the Lafayette location this past Saturday. The food and service were both excellent! I was really impressed because the restaurant was only about half full and that is usually when both service and food quality suffer.

Probably cliche to say these days because everyone else is too, but they are Canes level expensive. Just an order of fried cheese is $11 there now.
