It is all about timing and circumstance.

I was living in Houston when Ike hit and the day after, I went with a buddy to go checkout his place in Galveston. The causeway was still closed, so we launched up in Chocolate Bayou and crossed West Bay. We had a boat load full of construction type items so it was a tight fit. The first quarter mile, we were freaking out by all the kayaks and ice chests we saw.

We soon grabbed an Igloo. We then immediately ditched it for a better Igloo. We then ditched THAT igloo for a Yeti. After getting to the ICW we were ignoring all ice chests and had stopped counting them. By the time we reached his place in Jamaica Beach, we had stopped counting ice ce chests AND kayaks. We could've loaded a barge.

My uncle once pulled off a busy I-10 to make 9yr old me run into the median to get a bouncy ball. A fricking bouncy ball.

Years ago the chairman of the board of one of our local banks was an old guy who never married and lived at his camp out on the lake. All he did was fish, hunt, and make money. Somebody saw him on the side of the road picking up cans one time and said, "you're the richest man in town, why are you picking up cans>" He replied, "that's why I'm rich and you're not."

Told the story on here before…

Guy I worked with in Tulsa at a small bank had been VP of a bank outside L.A. that had a “pet” homeless man who came around daily collecting cardboard from the dumpsters in the area. Said he suddenly stopped coming around so they got concerned and eventually got the cops involved in a welfare check.

Turns out the old bum had an apartment and died in his sleep. They found several thousands of dollars in cash around the apartment and a bank account with a different bank. Guy was a multi millionaire off the cardboard scrap he sold to recyclers and living cheap.

Years ago I found a nice 15 ft log chain laying in the grass along a highway and still have and use it. Most of the time if I see something laying next the highway I leave it lay hoping whoever lost it will come back and see it.

I picked up a hitchhiker once, and a dead possum, but not at the same time. Some people call them opossums, but I call them possums. I call armadillos armored possums, but I’ve never stopped to pick one up.
Sir, merely from the freewheeling style of your banter I must admit that I admire the cut of your jib. (No homo)

Usually the ones found on the side of the road were used for concrete and broken

Dude down the street owns a pool cleaning business. Buckets are always available out front and they don’t last long.

My grandparents had hundreds of bungee chords despite having never purchased one. They would pull over on the side of the interstate if they spotted one.

I currently have a cat laying on me who I picked up on the shoulder of I-10 West.

She loves me more than your bucket loves you.

Her name is Lolo Jones

Nice cat.

Why do you have a crockpot on the nightstand?

We remodeled our house a few years back. my office was untouched and we had a lot of days where no work was being done so i worked from there most days.

We were living in a garage apartment about 5 blocks away so i walked over to the house usually. One day on my walk, i came across this.

Left it there for a few days... just because.

Passed by a nice Klein pliers, turned around and scooped them up. Right behind me dude was gonna do the same thing. Was getting gas at a Circle K and thought I ran over a 2x4. Walked over to pick it up and it was a old Stanley level. Found a 80L Jetty cooler on a local lake plus several plastic gas can washed up on my bank.

Not enough room in the kitchen. I have an Air Fryer and Ice Cream maker in my room as well.

I need a spring cleaning!

No self-respecting southerner is going to pay good money for an empty 5 gallon bucket.
