Surprised no one has mentioned William Henry Harrison. Poor guy never even had a chance to really make an impact, as he was only in office 31 days before his death from pneumonia.

Actually I think that most people know that there was a long ago President who died after 30 days. It’s just that most people don’t remember what the president’s name was or exactly when he served. Still, dying after 30 days is more notable than anything Van Buren, Arthur or Ben Harrison did as president.

Yep, I can’t remember most of them. My first president was Eisenhower but Kennedy was the one I remember the most.

Tippecanoe and Tyler too.

WH Harrison was the hero of the battle of Tippecanoe and grandfather to a later president, Benjamin Harrison. Tyler (His Accidency) took over and cemented the president that the VP takes the oath of office if the President dies. Tyler then brought Texas into the union, and settled a border dispute with Britain.

The reason? He got sick from being too longwinded at his inauguration on a cold January day in DC.

McKinley and Teddy both faced assignation attempts by the same movement that eventually lit the WWI fuse in Sarajevo. McKinley was greeting the public at the world's fair and got stabbed. Teddy got shot outside of a Milwaukee hotel and insisted on giving his speech before having the wound tended to.
