I couldn’t think of a better place to ask this, so during the 2016 flooding event, how long were power outages in the 70817 zip code? Shenandoah, Lake at White Oak, White Oak Landing, etc?

Not very long. 48 hours in Shenandoah if that. That was really just them turning it off then turning it back on themselves. Maybe it was worse in other areas.

My wife (EDIT: no pics) has been reporting the outage daily and was told the “status has changed” and it should be restored “within the hour.” Don’t wanna get hopes up but just maybe we’ll be back on today.

One trick you can try, which is dependent on your network provider, is most internet providers have a way to monitor your modem remotely. For AT&T you can log onto “Smarthome Manager” or even just the normal customer gateway and check the status of your modem. If power is out and you have a live signal, than the modem will appear as offline.

Not a perfect solution for it being off because your power could be on without internet. BUT it is a good way to confirm your power is on if your modem appears as online.

Could save a trip.

I believe most, if not all, of Camelot and woodland ridge have power as of about noon.

Demco or Entergy....? Most of that area for Demco was on last night.

Thanks Boat. That’s in line with what I had heard, right around 2-2.5 days.

If so, this is the second longest outage in the last 30 years, after Gustav. Hurricane Andrew was maybe 6 hours.

I know Woodland Ridge flooded in 2016 so it was likely longer for 70816.

It’s amazing and troubling that greater than 72 hours post-event the multi million dollar company entergy can provide zero reliable information so folks can plan accordingly.

Demco isn't much better at this point. I'd probably just go ahead and make travel plans if I were you if you're still out of power.

That is what a neighbor said.. But who knows. It seems there are 3 issues right around us... Kleinpeter Substation with 1000 customers affected .... A snapped pole with transformer on old Perkins at the RR tracks past Bluff, and a snapped pole with transformer in the woods across from Alexander's. Those are the 3 being discussed by neighbors.

According to the linemen working at Old Perkins/RR tracks, that will get power back to Swamp Road and Manchac Place/Manchac Commons subdivisions in the curve. They had actually made good progress yesterday, but some jackass moved the barricades on Old Perkins over night and an unsuspecting Coke truck drove through this morning and ran into the low hanging lines, which caused them to have to almost start over today
