This first episode had a solid start. Good action-packed opening that start's with a mystery surrounding Beverly Crusher. Without giving up a lot she's the reason there is a need to get the TNG group back together. There is quite a surprise about a passenger Beverly has with her.

I look forward to reading everyone's input. Being a Trek fan means being a glutton for punishment because like driving by a traffic accident it's hard not to slow down and take a peak.

So far I think it's off to a good start.

I can live with that. The Downvotes will most likely come from those that haven't watched it.

How did season 2 end? I kind of lost interest a couple episodes in when they ended up in LA.

The Borg are now good and want to be part of the Federation.

We've come a long way from those scary motherfrickers in the '90s.

I checked out around episode 5 I think, around the time Guinan told Picard "This century took off a hood and put on a suit."

Funny thing, the Nerdrotic guy, who hates everything, said that Season 3 was pretty good.

for me it was when they seemed to allude that all of LAs problems were from it's right wing politics or something like that. I'd have to go back and watch again to remember what annoyed me. I hate when politics from either side gets injected with no need.

Q was a big part of season 2. He was dying and the whole purpose of the season was teaching Picard to forgive himself and allow room to love someone. Q's last task as he was dying was "snapping" Picard and his crew back to the present, saving the Romulan kid that died and the Borg thing. Also, he ended up with the hot Romulan gal Laris.

Have you watched this episode or Strange New Worlds?

Nope. Why would I? Kurtzman is shite, and will always be shite. This isn't Star Trek, it's Star Trek for tik tok users.

My advice is to put the hate and posturing aside and give Strange New Worlds a try. It's the best offshoot of the original series that we've had since Next Gen/DS9. And this is coming from someone who bailed out of both Discovery and Picard.

First episode was pretty good.

Tons of easter eggs...and it was sort of a Star Trek best music hits, which was nice.

ETA: And the only 2 cast holdovers from the prior seasons are Seven of Nine and Raffi.

Let's not forget the all white, comically evil ICE agents who don't speak Spanish.

Hate and vitriol towards Alex Kurtzman is worth every penny. Strange New Worlds is guilty by association. And I think you need to check your house for gas leaks, because nothing from today's Star Trek can even come close to Next Gen. That's a big ole pile of hyperbole, because you haven't seen anything decent Trek wise for decades.

Never mind. Go through life missing out on the good stuff. Get your enjoyment from the hate.

It appears Star Trek is trying to shift back to a more neutral approach. SNW was a really good example. Picard Season 3's first episode appears to be following SNW's style.

Because of my 50+ year lovefest with Star Trek I'll give each new version a look. If it sucks I'll move on and bitch about like a proper fickle Star Trek Fan should. If it's good I'll hang in there and give it a shot.

Think about the Flash Trailer...Most folks are not fond of the DCU and Ezra Miller is a pariah. When you look at the Flash Trailer people are jacked up.

I don't think its fair to ask people to take a look before you piss and moan unless you are just that type of person that wants to fuss. Be miserable and the more "enlightened" fans will enjoy good programing.

Picard checks his privilege and attends a DEI seminar on how he has historically oppressed Jordi.

The continuum lectures Picard and tells him humanities judgement is decided and he and all other toxic straight white males will be banished into nothingness. He redeems himself by sucking a dick to transform into an acceptable oppressed group.

Q is banished to live as an oppressed bug on a frog planet as punishment for taking the form of the worlds greatest evil.

Everyone celebrates the saving of the universe by doing the cultural non binary dance of their aliens of color.

The end

This is a foolish take. SNW is very good and is nothing like Picard or Discovery. By and large it has even gone back to the episodic style that all Trek shows used to be and it’s been great.
