I just realized that was almost a year to the day after Connie's murder - May 12, 1984.

Small did a wonderful job of putting the victim on trial to spare the life of that animal. I'm hoping Satan forces Small to share a cell with his clients in hell. That would be epic justice.

Hadn't thought about this one in a long time. I was just a kid (other side of the river too) but I remember this dude's pic on the front page of the TT like it were yesterday. Just that dull, stoned-out caveman type of look, like he could have given a half a frick about anything.

What was that guy's story, anyway? Trailer-trash creep? Good family?

I think so. My son dated his niece for about 2 years. The family has more or less disowned him.

They had to move, for a time, for obvious reasons, to avoid the community backlash directed at them.

I remember this very vividly, my grandfather was principal of Tioga at the time and I was at his house when he received the call. Graduated Tioga 1991.

My sister graduated in '91 - her initials were LR.

My family know the Smith family from church. They are a wonderful family. God bless them, they have endured too much heartache.

Connie? Who kills herself with a knife?

Unless you mean Aragon (by Prestridge)? Do you have any idea the condition that girl was in when she was found?

Maybe you were looking for another thread.

Bryan Brown is in Angola Prison serving life without the possibility of parole. I've known him for the past 12 years through my job. Short, fat, balding man in poor health. He came from a good, loving family. His two sisters won't have anything to do with him but his parents still maintain some contact. Bryan destroyed not only Connie Smith's life but also the lives of her family, and those of his own family.

I spoke once with Bryan Brown about the crime - and although he wouldn't give me anything more than the basic details of his crime, he did tell me there was no particular reason for his crime. To me, that makes everything much worse - it was, according to him, just a spur of the moment thing. Awful thing.

Nice bump - I appreciate the update.

I think it was more to it than that - I think he had been stalking her for several weeks, perhaps a few months.

And, nobody breaks into a house and lays in wait for someone to come home "on the spur of the moment." I believe he was there to express his undying love in the hopes she would come around - and failing that, rape her at knife point. As she fought, rather than submit, he killed her.

We should have killed him. Maybe life at Angola is a worse penalty than death, but death is what he deserved, period.

I didn't know her Ace, but remember when it happened. 3 kids from PHS (separate events) were murdered within a year of Comnie.

I'm sorry for what happened, but you must have been a good friend to remember.
