nless you mean Aragon (by Prestridge)? Do you have any idea the condition that girl was in when she was found?

I don't think the details of the condition Sophia was left in by Kenny were ever made public.

Prestridge should've been put down as well. I had gotten into a scuffle. (Just a couple of pushes) with him about a month earlier.

True. Small really served the interests of justice with those two cases.

I must assume he'll get his in the next life.

I almost hired Small for a case I had in 89, I hired Phillip Letard instead and ended up getting convicted. I guess I hired the wrong lawyer. Not really though. A year of probation and record expunged with complete restoration of rights so it worked out.

I remember this very vividly, my grandfather was principal of Tioga...

Interesting...my uncle was also principal at Tioga High for many years - late 40s to mid 60s... nickname was "Bull".

Yes, obviously he had a motive and it wasn't "spur of the moment". Prisoners are always very careful of what they tell "free-men". He also never mentioned cutting her brother. Selective memory. I did ask him at the time if he ever contacted her family and he said "what's the point". I believe there is some basic human quality that's lacking in him but at least he will never get out amongst the general public again.

If my daughter was raped and murdered, the only contact I'd want with her killer would be my hands around his neck. I wouldn't want to hear about how sorry he was, how he'd found God, how he's a changed man, etc. frick that.

My child is in the ground, and the a-hole who killed her is trying to make himself feel better? No, thank you.

I lived with my Aunt for 1 year in 1986. I was a Freshman at Tioga High that year. I remember this murder being mentioned.

I have known many violent offenders in my career. The majority are of the "I didn't do it" type, a few are of the "it wasn't my fault" type, and a tiny, tiny number are truly sorry for what they did. In this case, the offender has NOT "found God, has NOT become a changed man, and I believe is NOT sorry for what he did. Your assumptions are poorly placed.

I just happen to come a cross this thread. I graduated Tioga in 1973. I knew a lot of folks in Timber Trails and it was such a tight community for the longest. That murder changed everything. He wanted her bad and if he couldn't have her, no one else could. I wasn't working în the legal system at the time but do presently and studied the case. You had a kid who was a punk and budding psychopath. I agree with everyone else that nothing has really changed, the guy is basically evil (not mentally ill but just pure evil), and deserved the death penalty. Next best thing is him rotting in Angola without benefit of early release or parole.

Wasn't there a serial killer out of Houston about the time of this murder that was responsible for deaths in Cenla as well as elsewhere? My recall is kinda foggy and maybe it was a few years earlier.

Can't believe that I don't remember this. I was a freshman at Louisiana College in 1983. Of course, I wasn't exactly following the news at the time. Mostly trying to survive my freshman year of "college basketball" and school. My wife graduated from Pineville in 1984 and remembered the details vividly. I'm sure it shocked the entire area at the time.

That courthouse in Colfax is so out of place in terms of its architecture.

Wow - I have spent many, many days in the Timber Trails neighborhood. My grandparents managed the golf course right next to it for quite a while. Alpine Country Club I believe it was called?

I had never heard of this, but I just asked my dad about it, and he remembers it vividly. What a sad story.
