Made an ITALY vs LA chart with control measures taken included

Day 1 for Italy was February 15th
and Day 1 for Louisiana was March 9th.
(Day one is the day of the first official reported case)
LA is currently on day 14.
Italy is currently on day 36.
The control measures taken by both Italy and Louisiana are circled.
The population of Italy is 60.4 million.
The population of LA is 4.6 million
Italy is currently on day 36 with 53,578 total cases. 6,557 of those cases were new/reported today.
The total deaths in Italy between day 1 and day 36/today is 5,476.
1,444 of those deaths occurred today.
In my chart I forgot to include a control measure taken by Italy- that of shutting down carnival on February 21st, the Friday before Fat Tuesday. This measure was taken on Italy’s day 11.
The number of deaths in the chart are cumulative (total deaths from day 1 to that day you’re looking at)
At times I think we’re fine because we shut the entire state down sooner than Italy shut their country down. Then I think, but they’re an entire nation and we’re just a measly state. Then I say yeh but they’re old and they smoke. Then I say yeh but we have a lot smokers too and a lot type 2 diabetes. Then I say but we’re a prayerful faithful people. Then I say, but so is Italy......
So I go back and forth. Just wanted to share the chart.

What a depressing way to spend hours in quarantine

I live out of state now and was back in baton rouge in January...and damn I forgot how many people smoke there.

Just saw on the news that most people in a Italy were not self quarantining. They were going to start enforcing it now.

Might be worth noting that the Italy death numbers aren't cumulative. Those are daily numbers.
I'm sure most people know that though

Yes. The numbers in the chart are the total deaths since day 1. They are not the total deaths per day.

What’s that got to do with anything?

The Roman Catholic Connection™?

Is this Excel or Google Sheets? Hard to tell.

You know this data is readily available to everyone in the world with an internet connection.

Excel ? I mean really
I have 5 kids. 4 of them are in school, so they’re using all 4 computers in the house.

So we'll be at close to 200 deaths in a week?
I'm hoping it won't track the same. For one, the US has had the virus in circulation for just as long if not longer. It's just that testing is catching up. Secondly, Italy has roughly 12x the population of Louisiana. Lastly, there's a chance that treatment techniques and efficiencies can improve drastically over the next week or two.

Thank you for writing deaths with the number under “total death” column. I might have gotten confused and thought it meant days.
