Quantum tech is something we need to back off from as a human species

We can control it, but we don't fully understand it.
For those that don't know - quantum computers are being built by our government, other governments, google etc.
In simple terms, modern computers operate using binary logic meaning OFF or ON. So for every decision path the modern computer is funnelled.
The quantum computer uses quantum concepts like superposition meaning that for every decision there is OFF, ON, NEITHER, OR BOTH increasing processing speeds exponentially.
As an example: google created a quantum computer with just 53 working qbits (quantum bits instead of normal bits) and they were given a problem that was calculated to take 10,000 years for the world's fastest supercomputer to solve.
with this computer they solved it in 200 seconds
What does this mean and why did I start this thread? Simple. Data encryption. This tech can crack our best military encryption holding our nuclear footballs in HOURS using simple brute force. The goal is to make a 256 qbit system in the next year or two that could crack that in a literal millisecond.
MEANING ALL forms of data encryption and privacy would be meaningless.
Yet they continue with the government's blessing.
We are heading for a trainwreck.

Meh, I like that Facebook gives me ads for shite I want to buy.

Not to mention SkyNet

It’s us or Russia/China/whoever. Let’s get it first.

Then how the frick are we gonna stop Thanos if we can't get to the quantum realm?
Posted on 12/6/19 at 12:18 pm to theunknownknight
If we don't then someone else will?
Posted on 12/6/19 at 12:19 pm to theunknownknight
As long as we figure it out before the Chinese.

Skynet = ASI (artificial super intelligence). It doesnt have to be self aware- it can be controlled by humans (which is worse IMO)
Artificial general intelligence = AGI, which is current task specific augmented AI tied to other AI is 5-8 years away. Again, it can be human controlled.
Once AGI is attained, it will make exponential knowledge connections at rates we cant comprehend to become ASI
Once ASI is achieved compelled with quantum tech, it will be impossible to be free. Our thoughts would be recorded etc.

That's the problem and why I said human species. It's currently an arms race with all of our destruction at the end
This is why Musk started the "neurolink" solution. To get ahead of the problem

if the get quantum decryption, couldnt they also have quantum encryption?
serious question
serious question

That’s why I’m siding with the robot overlords.
Maybe they’ll make me a general.
Or keep me as a pet

The time line for AGI is completely open ended and there is no human that has any real idea when AGI will be developed, if it’s even possible. Did you pull those number out of thin air?

So is there some 100,000 year old scientist laying around still composing the problem? If the answer takes 10,000 years, then the question must take much, much, longer, no? Or at least the same amount of time. And how do they know if the answer takes 10,000 years to solve? How do they know the answer is correct? Wouldn't it have taken the computer programmers/scientists a minimum of 10,000 years to answer said question in order to check said question?

Will Quantum TD allow embedding of videos and trashy FB posts so we don’t have to click a link?

Possibly- by that point, actually ALREADY - AI operates, decision making wise, at speeds we cant comprehend.
So here's the problem - whomever wins this arms race will have the tech to secure what they want while not even understanding HOW, while at the same time crushing everyone else. The winner sees all and controls all.

Here's a dumb question. I've always wondered how we know that it was solved correctly. Is it a problem we already know the answer to, or, if the computer solves it do we just assume that the answer is right?

Those year numbers come from Jeff Brown.
The current quantum computation powers lend support to that.
The more data we feed Google and the faster google gets - the faster AGI gets here

Yet we can’t even get simple traffic issues solved...
What the frick does that shite even mean?
