Wife's coworkers husband fell out with an anuerism or stroke while in Kenner for work this morning. Ambulance took him to Tulane Med, is this the best in N.O.? Any suggestions for a Neuro down there? His wife is on the way via Sheriffs dept so should be close by now. Guy is a runner and in terrific shape so hope his conditioning helps him pull through.

There is an excellent Endo-vascular neurosurgeon there. Won’t say the secondary care (NSICU) is the best in New Orleans though. There are better overall NEURO programs in town though.

Great Neuro staff

Regardless of their Neuro staff, it sounds like he needs treatment ASAP. I'd imagine moving him to Ochsner or any other medical facility would put his life in jeopardy.

LSU Neuro is at West Jeff and those Neurosurgeons are some of the best in the region

Noth wrong with Tulane either...if he was in Kenner that's the best place to take him

Ochsner main campus has the best Neuro ICU in the region. (Level 1).

They need to get him there if he is stable enough to move.

Tulane is where you want to be for anything that has to do with a stroke.

Get him to West Jeff. Dr Frank Cullichia is one of the best in the region. Not sure if he still is but he was head of the LSU Neurosurgery dept. He repaired my wife’s (no
Pics) aneurysm in 2013. It was on her anterior communicating artery.
Dr Jason Wilson was with him and is also a great surgeon. World class care for sure.

He stays very busy and is great at what he does. He planned to
coil hers but the shape prevented it. It ended up getting clipped and a craniotomy. That was a scary time but turned out great with no lasting effects.

He must have asked to go to Tulane because there are closer hospitals.

Ochsner has a hospital in Kenner.

As far as who is treating him, it's not going to be the head neuro guy unless he's called in on a consult.

If you go in to the ER or admitted, it's going to be what is called a "hospitalist" ... a doctor experienced in whatever field the problem is.

My mom went to the ER and not once did she see a doctor that she had ever been to before, nor did she see someone who had clinic.

Thanks guys, all my wife told me was; they had traveled down to pick up his new company truck and he was found unresponsive in the front seat with foam coming out of his mouth. Not anywhere close to knowing what causes this to occur. Good dude that i wouldn't expect this to ever happen to. Had complained of headaches the past two days so i figure it's stroke are anuerism.

Tulane or Ochsner main is where we air lift all of our serious stroke patients. He's in good hands at either one.

Wife was flown to Tulane Medical and had immediate surgery for a cranial aneurysm on her carotid artery last June. They placed coils and stints in her before I could get there from Lafayette. The Neuro Center there was is fantastic and I credit the surgeon (Dr D)and the entire ICU staff with a miracle. God Bless Tulane Neuro!!

ETA - upon critical diagnosis she was originally scheduled to be flown to Oshner but was re-directed to Tulane when the surgeon was not immediately available Surgery was done within about 1 hour of the chopper setting down.
