While hunting yesterday in 28* weather, my hands got really cold. Hands and feet are always the first to get really cold. What gloves yall using?

What gloves have a good combo of warmth, water proof, dexterity?

I gave up on finding gloves that have the combo you listed. I use a muff with a battery powered hand warmer in it along wear some thin fingerless Merino gloves. Can still shoot without having to pull a glove off.

I’m a Sitka fan-boy so I have 3 different pairs of their gloves. My warmest are the Blizzard GTX, but I think they’ve been discontinued. It’s a down mitten that slips into a Gore-Tex shell, which is extremely warm.

Eta: Missed the part about dexterity in your OP, but they’re easy to slip off to operate my gun

My Sitka jacket and Berber fleece jacket have kangaroo pouches. That works best.

Army surplus 100% wool gloves. Will work even when wet. 1/10 the price of Sitka like hype. Washable and packable but not fashionable perhaps.

Just got back from Kansas. Morning hunt was -7, feels like -20. I bought these from Amazon and stuck a couple hand warmers in the pouches. Worked fine and I don't do the cold well. Can't speak to waterproofness, but I found it was easy to flip the mitten back and shoot.

I hate gloves. So I usually stick hand warmers in pockets and keep my hands in there. I have a pair of cheap redhead gloves from bass pro for driving the sxs and they work fine.

I got some a couple years ago. Mine might not be 100% wool. Might be a wool synthetic blend, but they are thin like cheap cotton gloves and I can shoot with them on.

Get some regular hunting gloves and Superwarmers by Hot Hands. They’re 10x warmer than standard hand warmers. Put one in each pocket and your hands will be comfortable.

I bought several pair of these military surplus shooters mitten insert wool gloves 15 years ago for $2/pair, and i'm telling you, they're the warmest damn gloves I've ever worn. even when they're soaking wet they warm my hands. not the greatest grip, but it's never been a problem. surprisingly good dexterity when doing things like setting out decoys, etc. not too bulky to wingshoot with either. they're the only hunting gloves I'll ever own.

I’m using Bob Allen leather insulated shooting gloves. Treated with LP. You’re not going to stay dry dunking your hand in the water a bunch, but they work for me.

In the deer stand I’ve got some thin under armor gloves, but my hands stay in my pockets more in the stand.

You are not going to shoot in these gloves. But they are warm, waterproof, and cheap.

For duck hunting, the leather sitka gloves. They’re warm and you can shoot in them.
For deer hunting, I wear the fanatics with the cut off fingers so I can shoot. I drive my 4 wheeler with stratus gloves over the fanatics. And if it’s real cold, I wear a sitka incinerator muff around the bridge of my saddle, throw a couple hand warmers in it, and then put my hands in there until I’m ready to grab my gun or bow.

For a cheap option, I've been using the Magellan Outdoors Men's Ozark Heavyweight Poptop Gloves from academy. They are the kind that has open tipped fingers and a mitten top that folds over them. It's easy to put a hand warmer packet in the mitten part. The thumb has a cover that folds back as well. I hunted with them in Oklahoma a few weeks ago when it was around zero with a wind chill of -17 and was comfortable with them.

Kuiu gloves with the leather palms. They go on sale for about $30 a few times a year. Worth it.

They have very little insulation but great dexterity, wind proof and snow/drizzle proof.

I use some cheap carhartt mittens for driving the boat or fourwheeler.

Same thing applies as boots. The main thing the gloves should do is prevent exposure (be dry and wind proof). You need core temperature management and good circulation to keep them warm. I struggle keeping my hands warm much more than my feet and sometimes I have to put the mittens on, but that's only when I haven't dressed appropriately.

If it’s cold, I typically wear either really thin outdoor research merino liners or the thicker Kuiu merino liners. And on top of that I’ll wear the cheap mechanix tactical fast fit gloves, Kuiu attack gloves, or if it’s real cold, Kuiu Yukon pros. The merino liner I find keeps your hand from feeling wet and you can take off the outer layer if your hands start to sweat. Downshift is right, Kuiu gloves get heavily discounted a few times a year.

Edit: outdoor research makes nice gloves, and they have a chunk of made in the USA options as well.
