If one wants acreage, neighbors that watch out for each other, a great place to raise a family, etc... where do we go?

Pretty much pick a rural place in the southeast or midwest with a good school system and it will fit most of the other bills you are looking for...

I'm thrilled here.

No road access, few people, great quality of life, self regulating economy, plenty of natural food sources.

Its cloudy 2/3rds of the time, so the pussies stay in California.

If the SHTF, a guy can life fine here.

The latest destination of choice for many is Idaho. West Virginia is the diamond in the rough for us I think.

He wanted neighbors... not that you don't have some but AK is too remote / harsh for most people...

Land along the greenbriar river in WV is surprisingly affordable.

WV would definitely be somewhere I would look if I were limited to the lower 48. Idaho used to be, but it got too hot during the pandemic and is now expensive.

I love those old coal towns, dying or not.

I've always liked the NC/GA border area. (The GA side is way cheaper, FWIW.)

I've always been a fan of the Piney Woods of East Texas. Draw a line from Huntsville to Mt. Pleasant and stay east of it.

Both states have become bigger political wildcards than they should be.
