The processor cuts the roast and seals it in a bag, then they ship it to the store. The store weighs the bagged roast, puts the sticker on, and puts the bagged roast on the shelf.

Kroger has them at $5.97 with $25 additional purchase per Flipp, good until 12/24
Are they choice or select cut?

Last year, on Christmas Eve, it was at about 9:00pm, I went to Kroger for something the wife HAD to have to complete the next day's dinner. While there I walked past the meats, and a guy working said to me as i was passing by, "Have you purchased a prime rib for tomorrow? If not, we just marked these down to 75% off the sale price to get rid of them."

I did a u-turn and went to what he was pointing to. Choice three-bone and 4-bone rib-eye roasts for $1.35 lb.. I bought 4 and went home very proud of my find. These lasted me well into summer. Hoping they do the same this year.

Went to the store on Coursey Blvd this afternoon around 2 pm. The case was empty. Talked to the butcher and he said they will have more tomorrow. Could they be rationing so that they have enough to last the whole sale period?

Does Winn Dixie still make you scan one of those rewards cards for what’s in their sale paper? I haven’t shopped at one in quite a while but, I may pick up some steaks.

They had a bunch today, we got the biggest one that looks to be a chuck end, the rest weren't too hot on the marbling but for $5.99 in todays market I would have snagged one if we didn't grab the nice one. Looked better than the non choice meat I had seen on sale.

Oh, and the wouldn't cut it, guy said they could but it would be $11.XX a pound...

Snagged one today in NOLA. Had the guy bring out all he had and picked the most marbled. It was around 8 lbs. think I’ll do prime (choice) rib.

I've bought two chuck ends that had nice marbling. Satisfied with the grading at choice, and definitely not the Mexican beef they normally put on sale. Several did not have good marbling - FYI.

If any are interested in cutting into steaks, butcher said they weren't slicing at the sale price. But he did tell me that they got 29 cases on their truck. Speaking from experience, you might notice the sell by date toward the end of the sale and plan to hit the store early in the morning after that sell by date. If a store gets too many cases, they fire sale them. I bought hams at WD last year after Christmas for $0.29/#.

Was my first attempt to cut the bones off a rib roast, and it was extremely easy. I cut most of the cap fat and tail fat off, and ended up with ten steaks that were all about 1#.

My cost broke down to $8.00/# on the steaks, plus two 3 rib sections.

Probably had about 1.5# of fat that I would have rendered, but ran out of time.

Limit of one per day.

The bones were already cut off the ones I bought (but still under the roast) . This is the Gramercy WD.

They always ask for mine when I shop there, so I'd imagine that would tie in to sales pricing by having their card.

I've never tried not presenting the card to see if they honor sales prices without it.

I don't have a card. I asked the butcher in the back when I was picking out a roast if I needed to go up front and apply for the card before the purchase. He said no, don't worry about it. They will just use the "store card" when they check you out. And that's what they did. I purchased two separate times and both transactions went the same way.

I was told by one of the Winn Dixie butchers that they’ll be running this sale through next week’s sale paper since it’s the holidays. Depending on availability.

I got mine at Praireville location yesterday. After striking out at the Coursey location. Butcher there told me Praireville and Central locations currently have the most availability. This was as of about 4PM yesterday and they filled the cooler while I was there and still had several left on the cart that he took back to the back after doing so. Happy hunting.

I’ve got a whole rack last week. I’ve been calling every day at multiple locations each location are saying that they are out and do not have the whole racks. So I ended up just getting a half a rack
