Checkout Maison de la Luz. One of the nicer hotels I've stayed at in Nola.

I went to mardi gras one year and saw this group of people walking around with a ring with 100 or more keys on it. They were casually trying to open cars.

Pack light my friend.

I know this is the OT but Jesus.

I have been to Mardi Gras 25+ times, including several with my kids, and have never seen or experienced anything like this.

Depends on how old your kids are

Ponchartrain will get the parades earlier. You don’t really have to “walk” anywhere. Just right out of the front door

They are young so thisbis what I'm leaning. How is the Higgins as far as safety goes? Right next to WW2 museum it looks like so only a couple blocks off St Charles. How would that walk be, right after the Friday night parades and Bacchus?

Pontchartrain in a much better location for MG.

This x1000. Don't have to go anywhere. Built in parade spot.

Know anything about the Higgins Hotel? Only a couple blocks off STC over by the WW2 museum.

Walk to/from Higgins will be fine. Parade is over and everyone is walking home or to WHD bars.

Thanks. Do you happen to know anything about their parking situation, i.e. garage vs surface lot?

Edit - nevermind. Sounds like they use the WW2 parking garage. Assume that is okay.

The area around WW2 is safe but once you get past Lee Circle a lot of the route is barricaded headed toward downtown. Not a huge deal but as the crowd gets thick you kind of run out of room between that & the closeness of the buildings.

Honestly I prefer to catch it on the Tchoupitoulas side but again it gets there kind of late. But there is less of a crowd & no barricades

Yeah, we usually avoid the barricades. Typically, we are somewhere between the Popeyes and Delmonicos on St Charles. I think if we do the Higgins that would be a relatively short walk to and from.

Roosevelt is nice good location but rooms are tiny and elevators are from 1950.

The saint and Ritz are great as u can walk out see parade come back in abs they used to have security, the windsor is great too, but they are pricey as hell, but they will be cancellations at last minute. Seriously, be careful. I have seen some people get seriously fricked up by accident etc there. Like half their face hanging off shite

We’ve stayed at the Higgins before using points and it’s nice. The hotel is decorated using WWII themes and is Art Deco in style. Decent roof top bar. Parking is the same as the WWII museum and no real issues. you have to leave the hotel to access the parking lot but it’s not a big deal, it’s right next door.
