Imagine if it was priced so it prices out people you don’t want sitting next to you

Other than kids movies. Top Gun is the only movie that I saw in the theater since 2019.

Top Gun and Elvis are the only two movies we’ve gone to a theater to see since the COVID lockdowns.

Do people still go to theaters? Stuff is online within a month.

Also, raising prices on your few loyal customers is a brilliant strategy.

There's one here in Indy (Noblesville, actually) called Emagine. We went to the movies for the first time in a year or so to see "A Knock at the Cabin" and it was packed.

This was the nicest theater I'd ever been in. Most good theaters now have the recliners, but this one also had a bar in the lobby. They were serving whiskey. If I was still drinking I would have had 1-2 and gotten nice and cozy in that recliner.

Tickets were $15 each. I wouldn't go all the time like I used to as a teenager, but for movies I want to see it's nice to get around other people. As long as everyone agrees to shut the frick up, that is.

Unless you go on opening weekend, most movies are not even a quarter full. What's going to stop someone from buying a value ticket and then sitting wherever they want, same as a half empty sporting event.

At that point who cares?

I don't think you're going to get anyone, theaters included, caring about where people are sitting in a 10% full theater.

The premium seats (and this is all a guess) are to add some revenue when theaters will be full. I'd guess that value tickets are going to be baseline ticket price, so in the event someone sits wherever, it's the same thing as all seats being the same price.

Sounds like a reason for more people to just stay home and stream.

Or the main reason, that most new movies are dog shite.
