More on the city side, but El Paso is closer to Los Angeles than El Paso is to Houston.

Not true. What youre thinking about is that El Paso is closer to California than the eastern TX border.

Permanent population of zero.

Also one of the least visited National Parks. Less than 20k/year.

Fun fact. To get to Sky Valley, Ga you have to drive from Georgia, then through North Carolina - then back into Georgia.

Please expand on this.

Carter Lake, IA is west of the Missouri River on the Nebraska side but still a part of Iowa. Gut cut off when the river changed.

Duh, time zone. Panhandle is Central while part of Oregon is Mountain time zone.

Thought you literally meant one hour in distance.

If you haven’t read about it, look up Derby Line, Vermont.

Not a state border but international border. The border runs right thru people’s homes, property, and a library/opera house.

Tennessee borders 8 states. Here are the border lengths in order (miles of border):

1. Missouri - 128
2. Virginia - 140
3. Alabama - 185
4. Georgia - 186
5. Arkansas - 222
6. Kentucky - 225
7. Mississippi - 229
8. North Carolina - 332
Lol wut. Look at a map and tell me you believe Mississippi and North Carolina share more border with Tennessee than Kentucky. We CLEARLY share the most border mileage with each other and it's not particularly close.

Edit: How long is the Kentucky-Tennessee border? 1342 miles and some change!

Cmon dude. Think before you post next time.

Probably a decent place to live.

If you live in the city, you get all the benefits of living in Texas on the Arkansas side (no state income tax).

Ohio and Virginia prior to 1863. Virginia also bordered Pennsylvania prior to then, too. That would seem really weird today.

Texans think it’s such a flex that they have such a large swath of useless desert land where nobody lives.

Also find it funny that movies that are in Texas usually are set in this area yet majority of the population lives in the other side of the state that doesn’t look like that. Why wouldn’t the films just set the movie in Arizona or New Mexico

Why is West Virginia shaped all fricked up like that?

Most of the lines follow geographic distinctions (rivers, mountain ranges, peaks, etc.)

The other parts were created by odd colonial surveys that were meshed with the natural boundries.

90% of the population of Canada lives geographically south of Maine.

Speaking of Canada, downtown Detroit is north of the Canadian border.
