I'll be coming through Memphis next week; just looking for some local places for a dinner.

I like rendezvous others don’t

What kind of food are you looking for and how much do you a]want to spend. Keep in mind that your options include Southaven, MS too.

Magnolia and May
Andrew Michael

Ribs and pulled pork are good at some places like Central, BBQ Shoppe, and Germantown commissary, but Memphis BBQ underwhelms me overall.

I like Memphis and almost went to college at Rhodes, but, seriously, watch your back there (and I'm from Nola).

Going there this weekend for college parent's weekend. We've had the Beauty Shop in Cooper-Young, Rendevous several times (better than expected), Cozy Corner, Dino's Italian (basis red sauce stuff, but love the place), Gus' Fried Chicken, Grisante's (towards Germantown), but my favorite has been Second Line.

What part of town are you staying in (or travelling through)? What kind of food are you looking for?

Memphis seriously has good eats. It rivals other food cities in my opinion. Where are you staying and how long?

Automatic Slim's is good for brunch.
Loflin Yard for good hangout vibe.
Itta Bena for nice sit down evening dinner before hitting Beale Street.
Restaurant Iris, Louisiana native chef that trained under John Besh.
Second Line for decent cajun food north of I-10, same chef/owner as Restaurant Iris.
Porch and Parlor for one of the best steaks in Tennessee.
Southern Social and Coastal Fish Company great alternates from the same company that owns Porch and Parlor.
Gus's Fried Chicken!
Elwood's Shack is my personal favorite for lunch. A literal shack in the Lowe's parking lot. Get the steelhead trout fish taco.
The Beauty Shop has a very eclectic scene and menu. Some tables even include nonfunctioning hooded hair dryers.

This is just a small sample of Memphis food, I didn't even mention the BBQ. Hard to go wrong there. The nitpicking b/t which is the best BBQ joint is like picking b/t Old Charter 8, Buffalo Trace, and Weller. You will enjoy whatever you choose.

Cozy Corner

Was probably my second favorite (central BBQ was best IMO) but when I lived there, it was in a sketchy area. Doubt it’s gotten better

BBQ shop on Madison was my favorite when I lived there. I didn't care for rendezvous.

I recommend checking out Flight.

I haven't been in years, but loved it.

The menu comes in flights, so you get to sample multiple things on the menu.
