their rankings are based off US news rankings which doesnt list their criteria for rankings.

might as well be an opinion piece.

Such as?

You should get a higher ranking for some minority that going to become a doctor than some upper middle class Dallas kid who isn't smart enough to get into any Texas school that just wants to go to Ole Miss to do coke and party

Georgia has definitely raised its profile.

like 20 years ago and stayed there. we'd probably have been 4th or 5th on this list of schools for the last 20 or so years.

seems like we are actually tied with A&M

In 2017 mine entered UF. The average high school GPA of the incoming freshman class was 4.41. UF's engineering school was ranked #43 and LSU was tied with Free Shoes for #98.

William F. Tate IV goal is to combine Southern and LSU.

The DEI admissions are now based on demographics and not academics.

I'm surprised LSU isn't 16th, give it a year or two.

How does its Terry School of business compare to UT McCombs?

Not really in the same tier, but that's not a knock on Terry at all.

"Business school" rankings are nearly always whatever the MBA ranking is, which includes metrics like the % of students that feed into finance/consulting firms in NYC, etc. In other words, a single program ranking = the school's ranking.

If you look at undergrad business (BBA) rankings, McCombs is usually Top 5 overall or just outside of it.

Accounting has been #1 forever.
Finance is Top 10 (usually around 6 or so).
Data Analytics is about the same (3-6).
Marketing is Top 10.
Entrepreneurship is Top 5 or so.

It's a phenomenal school. And none of the typical liberal bullshite exists in the B-school. They're pretty well focused on academics and business.

I thought Bama was a good school.

Whatever gave you that idea?

They've been accused of many things, but not that.

Is Tate at risk of being asked to move on from LSU by the new governor?

I'd be curious what the rankings were 20 years ago, if they even did them then. I'd assume LSU would have been more middle of the pack then, trending upward.
Not sure about the rankings but 20 years ago it was harder to get into LSU than Ole Miss and Alabama because that is where all my friends went to school that didn’t get into LSU.

McCombs should be top 25 MBA

It is. Usually falls around 18 or so. The major schools outside of the M7 + Stanford GSB are UC Berkeley Haas, Michigan Ross, UVA Darden, NYU Stern, Duke Fuqua, UCLA Anderson, USC Marshall, UT McCombs.

Tepper (Carnegie Mellon) and Goizueta (Emery) are in there too.

Foster (UW), Keenan-Flagler (UNC), Kelley (Indiana), McDonough (Georgetown), Jones (Rice) are sort of the next tier ...

... followed by Notre Dame, Vandy, UGA, SMU, and others.

But again, MBA rankings incorporate a ton of stuff like salaries, etc., that skew toward the schools that feed into IB/MBB firms in New York. It's not necessarily a ranking based on academics.

My professors at UT McCombs were all M7 + Stanford GSB/Michigan Ross/NYU Stern folks. Incredibly smart people.

I might put UGA above A&M
