13 years later there would probably be widespread protests on college campuses condemning the US for this atrocity

how convenient that they threw his body into the ocean with no proof they killed him or anyone.

It was a pretty surreal thing and I'm still pretty fascinated by this raid. I'm not really a larper type or one to worship special operations, but to the extent I'm interested in that community it mostly stems from that night. A common story I'm sure.

Just the coolness of all the effort and failure that went into it, and how it must have felt for those involved (both directly and otherwise).

We had no power that day due to the 4/27 storms. I heard the news from my sister who lived in Virginia at the time. I turned on the battery powered radio and listened to talk radio coverage of it.

I also missed Cam Newton getting drafted first over all.

Deep down it probably broke Obama's heart.

ETA: He was going into a re-election year.

Always loved the scene in Zero Dark Thirty when they find the compound and have to pitch it for the first time

Me too. I was a junior in college. It was the day after our Old South party. I was laying on the couch in my living still nursing a hangover. I was flipping through the channels and just happened to stop on Fox News. I saw it and started yelling "F**k yes! USA! USA!" My roommate came out of his room like WTF are you doing and immediately started doing the same thing. We called some girls and walked over to one of our fraternity brothers place in Lake Beau Pre and got drunk AF. It was a great night.

It was cool being on TD that night and of course knowing what the announcement was before it was reported on the news.

I just got home from Afghanistan a couple months prior. Heard the news, yelled hell yeah, and broke down crying out of joy.
