I dunno, Sheppard, Avdija and Kuzma would be a solid return if we can get a good return for Kuzma flipping to a 3rd team. Nothing flashy, but definitely solid

Holding Kuzma until the deadline could be a good move also, once teams start to have players go down they could be enticed by him.

Put some respect on Rob Pelinka! Cuz if I'm the Pelicans, I ain't doing the deal without Kuzma.

Yes. We trade CJ for Wendell Carter Jr, who’s a solid young center that can hit threes. Magic would still owe us some assets in theory because CJ is more valuable than Carter Jr. We take whatever other assets we get from the Magic, then add in some of our own assets, and trade all that for Murray. I choose Kuzma cause he’s been mentioned in trade rumors and his salary fits for the trade, and he’s still a good player. Doesn’t have to be Kuzma, I just think Atlanta wants players for Murray not picks since they want to win now with Trae Young.

Simple Trade. Yes. No. Maybe:

Cavs Get:
-Brandon Ingram
-Larry Nance
-2024 1st rd. pick (via Lakers)
-2025 1st rd. pick

Pels Get:
-Darius Garland
-Jarrett Allen
-2025 2nd rd. pick

Avdija and the 2nd pick would be a dream return for me. If they need to add salary they can throw in Landry Shamet

Your dream is to replace BI with a dude who's done much of nothing in the league his first 4 years, plays as many minutes as BI and takes a lesser amount of 3's as an off ball guy? But he did score 43 against us.

I thought you guys wanted to shoot more 3's, not less.

I wouldn't say that is my dream trade, but Avdija is pretty damn good man, he just plays on a terrible team, I really wouldn't say he has done "nothing", he is a good player. His FG% and 3P% have gone up every year (he needs to get the volume way up), and he is a really good defender. He is also on a very very friendly contract

That and #2 wouldn't be the worst haul, but I don't call it a dream haul that is for sure.

Agreed

I'd prefer other deals, but Deni can give you 75-80% of what BI gives you right now, and is likely going to get a bit better as well.

So giving you most of what BI gives you but doing so for $13mil a year. I do think just that 1 for 1, there's an argument that we're a better team next season, and that's before whatever additional compensation would come in.

The only concern that can undo some or all of what I said is position. Seems like both Deni and Trey play SF and PF, so I'm not sure how the minutes allotment would work.

Draft night trade

Wizards get:

BI
#21
Bucks 25 1st (Top 4)

Magic get:

CJ
Nance
Pelicans 26 1st (top 5 Protection)

Pelicans get:
Deni Avdija
Kyle Kuzma
Jonathan Isaac
Jalen Suggs
#2

Plan would be to flip Kuzma later (is there a team we could add as a 4th that would take Kuzma for a pick we could give to Orlando or Wiz?). Avdija/Kuzma/Isaac gives you a ton of flexibility to run and small ball, 3 point shooting still lacking big time. Take Topic or Sheppard at #2.

What would we have to add to this to make it reality? More picks? Hawkins?

Also, looking at the tweets from that NBATradeReport that tweeted about the Wizards being interested in BI, that account tweets a lot of "rumors" that no one else has ever reported on, so seems like we shouldn't put any stock into it, other than just discussing options for fun.

guys that are pretty damn good that play on a terrible team typically don't take 4 years to get to double digit scoring.

I'll be honest, i haven't watched him at all so don't know much about him, but the fact that he played on a shitty team and didn't stand out to me means that he's just another role player that isn't going to start for us.

Getting the #2 pick is intriguing, but the fact that we have no idea who the #1 pick is going to be isnt' a good thing. Unless our scouting team really likes someone at the top of the draft then this isn't a trade that helps us at all.
You whiff on the draft pick and you might as well trade Zion next year b/c he'll be asking for a trade not long after that.

I"m just not into trading BI for hope. We have assets. Go get the guy needed to win a championship with Zion. It's one guy, not a role player or 2 and some draft pick.

Yes. He is a talented player. He is not nor ever going to be an elite scorer, but he is a really good all around player, and a VERY good defender. Kinda reminds me of AK47 in some ways, or even Jimmy Butler (but not as good of a scorer as Butler has become).

If you look at his attempts from year to year, it makes sense why his scoring has been limited. This was the first year he's had double digits field goal attempts. I'd more concerned if he shooting it a lot to get his numbers.

and then Pels send #2, Kuzma, Deni, Pels 1st to Jazz for Markannen, and then Suggs and Pels firsts to ATL for Murray.

Pleaae explain why you HAVE to keep a first?

We have (3) 1st for 24' and 25'.

If we do that trade we have:

Garland/ Jose
Herb/ CJ/ Hawk
Murphy/ Dyson
Zion/
Allen/

Why? Why MUST we keep all of our firsts? Do people not realize you are trading the 1st FOR YOUR CORE. The point of trading the 1sts is to KEEP your current core players and ADD CORE players.

But no lets keep late 20s picks. Because you know we plan to COMPETE.

I swear the mouth breathers that say to keep all the picks are the same people that expect those picks to be lottery picks. Its like a double down of idiot.

"No don't trade picks to get better, if you do that then how are we going to win the lottery next year".

He was efficient and his FG% went up. He is a good ascending player that is already a VERY good defender. Great size, tough player

I like him.

He has “coby white” potential to improve. I like him but I’m not sure how much better he makes our team and how his fit will be with Zion. If thats the main piece in a BI trade- I would be a bit concerned.

Saw people kicking around the Jazz/Pels trade of:

Pels get:
Kessler
Sexton
Collins
#10

Jazz get:
BI
Nance

I don't see Ainge doing it, but if they did, I'm talking to the Magic about CJ (and Collins?) + 21 and seeing what I can get
