Yeah they need to get some centers and maybe plug a few other holes, but high level ball handling and creation is the biggest hole the Pels need to fill, especially with BI going out in a trade. There's a pretty telling stat to find a replacement too, drives per game. The Pels at a minimum need to replace what BI brought in this area if not upgrade it.

Here are the players ranked by drives per game last season. LINK For reference, Zion averaged 17.0, BI 13.0, and CJ 9.9.

Players with 10 or more drives per game that are realistically available, aren't fringe starters or over the hill, and could possibly be had as part of a BI trade would be

Trae Young 15.6
Darius Garland 15.2
Dejounte Murray 15.1
Coby White 13.8
Collin Sexton 12.9
Scoot Henderson 12.0
Tyler Hero 11.9
Anfernee Simons 11.6
Jaden Ivey 10.9
Immanuel Quickly 10.0

Who are the top 5 picks that could fit this role, anyone besides Topic and Sheppard?

I don't like everyone on this list, and please point out if I missed anyone worthwhile, but to me these are the names we should be focused on. If the Pels don't get one of these players back in the trades that happen this summer, it seems like they will take a step back in a conference where everyone else seems to keep moving forward.

I haven't seen Trae Young play a ton. How good of a passer is he? We need a good facilitator.

Swapping Garland for BI would make the most sense. That's my #1 preferred option. Then probably Dejounte.

Bam
Mobley
Murray
Lauri
White

That's the top tier. The top 2 are unrealistic but a path (having to do with their team's implosion, not our desirability) to becoming available. Will cost godfather offers.

I don't know if White will be available, but he's not worth a godfather offer, IMHO.

I don't consider Garland available in any circumstance, but he'd be right behind Bam if he becomes that.

After that, we get to the budget options (White almost was this until his explosion)

Sexton
Allen
Herro
Quickley
Simons

Murray was on this list at the deadline ( )

I'd throw a future 1st but that's all tier:

Scoot
Ivey

Just say no list:

Trae Young

I’m still saying Trae should be the top target. Think I remember a stat that only him and Oscar Robertson are the only players in nba history to have over 30 points and ten assists in so many games in a row.

He is definitely a flawed player, but is exactly what we need on offense and pairs perfectly with Trey and Herb. I think he’s devalued enough to where it shouldn’t cost much more than BI to obtain him. And with Zion, teams will not have the option to concentrate on him.

Trae Young 15.6 - I think he pairs great with Zion, instantly becomes your finisher - unlike BI, he can at least get fouled, and I think Herb can cover his defensive deficiencies. I don't like him, but he may be like Kyrie and just need a change of scenery. CJ either gets dealt or goes to the bench.

Darius Garland 15.2 - He's just a young CJ IMO. Need to move CJ if we get him.

Dejounte Murray 15.1 - I like the fit, but Klutch.

Coby White 13.8 - How's his defense?

Collin Sexton 12.9 - I like the fit but is he a needle mover?

Scoot Henderson 12.0 - frick no. He still sucks.

Tyler Hero 11.9 - Maybe a worse defender than CJ. What's the point?

Anfernee Simons 11.6 - Ok, but doesn't really solve anything and is redundant with CJ.

Jaden Ivey 10.9 - Can't shoot which is an issue but he could be a buy low guy with huge upside so I'm interested.

Immanuel Quickly 10.0 - Honestly, don't know anything about him.

I am so torn about Trae. I see him as the perfect fit with Zion and Murphy. He and Zion have the opposite gravitational effect on defenses- Zion pulls defenders into the post and Trae stretches defenders past the 3 pt line with his range. Murphy would have lots of open looks.

The negatives, of course, are his defensive ability and is NO not glamorous enough for him. Could Herb and Traes offense offset his poor defensive ability? Would he bail on NO after a year or two to go to Miami, Lakers, Clippers, Boston, etc?

3 team trade:

Hawks:

Brandon Ingram
Larry Nance

Cavs:

Onyeka Okongowu
EJ Lidell

Pels:

Trae Young
Jarrett Allen

Throw in whatever picks needed to make it work.

If the cap threshold is around 170mil we would be adding an additional 13mil to our current 150mil for 2024-2025.

So we should still be 5-10mil under the cap. Not including exemptions.

Roster:

Trae/ Jose/
Herb/ CJ/ Hawkins
Trey/ Dyson/ Ryan
Zion/ / JRE
Allen/

Just need

(1) Vet backup PF
(1) Vet backup C
(1) Rookie C
(1) rookie/ vet PG
