Climate change will be a lesser priority in Florida and largely disappear from state statutes under legislation signed Wednesday by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that also bans power-generating wind turbines offshore or near the state’s lengthy coastline.

It takes effect July 1 and would also boost expansion of natural gas, reduce regulation on gas pipelines in the state and increase protections against bans on gas appliances such as stoves, according to a news release from the governor’s office.

“We’re restoring sanity in our approach to energy and rejecting the agenda of the radical green zealots,” DeSantis said in a post on the X social media platform.

“The legislation I signed today [will] keep windmills off our beaches, gas in our tanks, and China out of our state,” the governor said, according to the DeSantis-friendly outlet Florida’s Voice, which was the first to report that he had signed the bill. “We’re restoring sanity in our approach to energy and rejecting the agenda of the radical green zealots.”

The legislation also eliminates requirements that government agencies hold conferences and meetings in hotels certified by the state’s environmental agency as “green lodging” and that government agencies make fuel efficiency the top priority in buying new vehicles. It also ends a requirement that Florida state agencies look at a list of “climate-friendly” products before making purchases.

Exactly why I’m happy he’s my Governor. Couldn’t imagine living almost anywhere else during these times. I’m all MAGA and love Desantis. Weird how that works. Taboo round here.

I'm referring to the sarcasm specifically.

I'll give you a chance to answer. You wont.

From what I recall, this is one area where the guy who won the nomination was quite strong on when he was last in office. Do you have a different recollection?

Good move by the governor here either way.

Clearly an establishment globalist cuck here to do the bidding of the Bushes, Paul Ryan and the Murdochs.

Thank goodness we didn’t subject ourselves to that nonsense.

For this to make sense, you must also believe that Trump would have veteod this legislation had it been sent to him. Anyone that believes that can't be taken seriously. I know you hate Trump, but attacking him for his green policies is just absurd.

I really hate when we get effective politicians in office that do good things.

Glad republicans nominated an 80 year old Dem in drag so we can avoid things like this. Whew! Close call!
