Cut out most alcohol. Give yourself one day a week to partake, if that.

Cut out cheap carbs (processed crap).

No sweets.

Prioritize protein.

Walk 20 minutes a day, 1 minute plank 3x a day.

I wanted to drop my gut a few years ago and did this for 2ish months and it basically disappeared. Unfortunately, it has reappeared a bit. Turns out I'm a weak, weak man when it comes to pasta and scotch.

Currently 245 and need to be 220 at least.
I don't snack and eat well. No booze, no sugary drinks. Lift 4 days a week and do a little steady state cardio before the lifting. Muscles grow but gut persists. I do not get it.

you have to cut calories, you are eating too much

and no you dont need to be 220 unless you are 6'5. prolly need to be closer to 185-190 max.

and jesus some of yall are in denial and Fat AF.

These comments are almost certainly in conflict with each other. Track everything you ingest, including measuring portion size with a scale, for at least two weeks and the answer will be apparent.

ts just because you went back to eating more calories.

When you were on carnivore, you just ate less, mostly because you were more satiated from all the protein.

You go back to your normal diet and you suddenly start eating more again because you are not as satiated.

It isn't just your body. Its basic physiology.

man its laughable you even have to explain this to him

like the weight just magically reappears and he never over ate to put it back on

just magic....poof its back

not if that is true measurement at naval, not close. thats going from 15-17% bodyfat down to 10% or lower. im not talking jean size, im talking tape measure around the naval.

Dude if you’re 36 inches around the naval you aren’t 15-17% body fat. You’re easily in the 20s

By all means please educate me. I read it as the guy is measuring at 36 inches in circumference when measuring around at the naval. If that is the case it is HIGHLY unlikely that person only has a body fat in the mid teens.

I think you're being too sensitive. This thread (and many others) prove that most people these days just don't have a good understanding of exercise/diet/general good health. See all of the "I'm 5'10" and weigh 250 pounds, and I need to lose 20 lbs" comments.

Your post made it seem like just stopping carnivore made you gain weight, when it was really that you were eating more calories than you were burning. Yes carnivore can be great because you can be really satiated on less calories, but there isn't anything magical about it.

Well, for one, lsu777 didn't say that someone with a 36" waist (measurement, not pant size) was 15-17% bodyfat.

Go back a read his statement again.

That's the thing, having a high stress job. Balancing that with being present for the wife and kids, it doesn't leave much time for being an exercise fiend. Waking up when it's dark to work out and going to bed before the nine o'clock news isn't living to me. Also I can't stand running or lifting, but I do like riding my bike which I've found is all I need, if I can find time for it.

Trying to cut back on alcohol is the thing. I can be good for 3 to 4 days, and see immediate results, but then it's back to the bad habits, which are related to the high stress job. If I didn't have to work I would have no problems.

Cut out bread(including pasta), processed sugars, diet drinks, and beer. You can pretty much eat anything you want outside of those main groups even if you don’t work out but it requires some willpower if you like sweets like I do. I have never had a gut with four kids and that is why. They are the biggest sources of midsection weight for men.

A massive part of not gaining the weight back is to very very slowly reintroduce other foods back into your diet and very very slowly increase your calories to maintenance. You want your maintenance phase to be at minimum as long as your diet was.
