The manual door release can only damage it if you close it after manually opening it. If you left the door open after getting out you could close it again when the update finished and the car resumed normal function

A business owner told me that a customer had a Tesla go stone dead in his parking lot. Couldn’t tow like a regular car because they couldn’t get it out of park. I guess it was an AWD model. Sat there a week until Tesla came for it.

Then she might potentially damage her shoes or god forbid the update, or her car. So she would have continued to stay there and stream on social media until her phone died. Then she would have figured a way out but that's doubtful too
