It’s not complete. It’s a giant sail. Funds were donated for this and could not be used for anything else.

Once the skin is applied, they are going to project scenes onto the sail so that when you look up you will see WWII planes flying overhead at night.

Heard from a person in the know it's cost 25 million and is over 2 years behind. It's part of the reason they had to lay off so many people a few weeks ago

That actually sounds pretty cool.
Some folks seem to complain about everything.

I thought it was a big structural support beam for a new addition ... like to hang boats from or something similar to how they have all those planes suspended (which is fricking bad arse)

Whatever man if it’s private funds it’s private funds

The WW2 museum is incredible.

The multi leveled catwalks through the suspended airplanes is amazing.

They don't have an endowment is why they had to lay people off. It's not like this sail took money out of their pockets.

Well maybe instead of hitting Bollinger up for this ugly arse thing they should have thought of the future that place seems less like honoring those men and women and more like war profiteering

If I recall correctly they had a major engineering snafu when they built it the first time. Probably the same engineering crew that worked on the Baton Rouge library or Hard Rock Hotel.

Your "person in the know" is making shite up. It's a privately funded project and the money was set for this a long time ago.

In a town regularly subjected to hurricanes, this always struck me as a bad fricking idea.

Quit trying to make some gotcha argument.

who's going for a gotcha argument? If /when they manage to finish that thing it's going to be a part of another ticketed experience to sell to people. When it already costs over 50 a person just to get in the place.

Here's a fun fact: yes, they did have the private funds initially but because it's so far behind schedule and over budget they had to go back to Bollinger and beg for more money. Don't forget too, they're 70 million in the hole on that hotel of theirs too. I'm nervous about that place moving forward, especially with no one traveling. They're just super exposed

Is this more concerns due to your inside source?

Wasn't there an issue with messing up all the structural members in the laydown area in the port? Like a logistical mess up not that the steel material itself was compromised.
