Been a D1 golfer and then professional golfer and now
director of Golf since 2004…. No ball has ever been better than the ProV in my opinion. The new left dash is longer off the tee by a lot! I mean by 10-15 yards… but I still prefer the original prov V over any ball. Obviously your spin rates and what you prefer affect that, but you can’t beat that ball in any way shape or form. Which is crazy that they have dominated the ball business this long.

Callaway Supersoft balls

One of the better low compression, ionomer cover (non-urethane) golf balls along with Wilson Duo soft.

About $25 per dozen gets you a decent non-urethane golf ball. For seniors, or lower swing speed, these are reasonable options.

ERC Callaway is no better than Supersoft IMO and slots in at $35 per dozen.

Prov is the king, but the quality of golf balls is getting better with the other manufacturers.

They offered it last year from 3/14 - 3/27. I’m expecting them to offer it again this year around the same time and plan to buy 4 dozen

This is correct. It was 2022 that they didn't offer it. They did cut out the free personalization in 2023 though.

I'm playing the Snell MTB Prime X's. I used to play The ProV1x or the TP5x and the performance difference does not justify the cost difference. I've pretty much rotated every "premium" ball throughout the years and the Pro V's are the best ball by a landslide, but those MTB Prime X's aren't that far behind it.

Callaway offering a 4 for price of 3 deal on their tour and tour x equivalent.

I putt these noticeably better with the three track

I usually play Pro V1x all the time. Love the long iron spin and I've gotten accustomed to the firmness of the ball vs the Pro V1. Cally's new Chrome Tour X is in the bag right now. Absolutely love that ball. Performs very similar to the Pro V1x but has some more greenside spin.

I believe that they have positioned the Chrome Tour to be the ball that competes with the Pro V1. They just starting offering their 3:1 deal. Titleist has the 3:1 deal going now as well. Don't think you could go wrong either way.

These 4for3 deals from the big 3 still work out to over $40 a dozen which is pretty steep. Z Star Diamond is a great ball, similar performance to Pro V1x but softer feel and $70 for 2 dozen right now. Occasionally can find them for as low $25 a dozen.

If you can find it, give the ProV1X Left Dash a try. It's closer to the ProV1X of old before they switched profiles and confused everyone.

Not sure if they are included in the 4 for 3 deal or not, but you can find them at Dick's pretty easily.

I loaded up on the ProV1X holiday deal when they were selling the 2 packs for $99. I bought 3 of those and still have 5 dozen left.

Have a friend that is a 3hcp and he swears by the Wilson Staff ball.

It's probably the best ball for it's price point. If I didnt get along so well with the AVX, I'd game the Wilson staff ball

Look at the distance numbers. The TPD was averaging almost 20 yards shorter than the ProV1x. I was using it for a while because I liked the feel around the green but I was thinking I was losing distance but figured it was maybe just me, but then someone posted this link. Finished the dozen I had left and never bought them again. Supposedly Rory is playing the 2019ish version of it, not the 2023.

I remember starting a thread here a few years ago asking if anyone else felt like they were much shorter off the tee with the TP5/TP5x. I had switched to the TP5 Pix because I really liked the feel around the greens and the way it looks when rolling putts. But it really just seemed like I was so short on drives; the ball would just fall out of the air so quick.

I switched back to the ProV1x and I will never change to anything else. I got back 10-15 yards off the tee. It's the best ball out there, period.

found a Titleist Balata tour ball on the course yesterday. Played the last hole with it - so damn sweet. Putting with it was just amazing. Felt like it was just super soft and true. Would the tour ever return to that ball?

Yeah, I forgot. We ordered them through our club. Pro sent out an email about 2 weeks ago saying they were doing the 3:1 deal again. But I think the other poster is right in that it is supposed to start 3/15. I checked another site and last year Titleist ended the promo about 2 weeks after that.

Gotcha, thanks! My club must be on the non-baw list, we didn't get word on it. I did google it and saw some clubs had info on their websites for their members and I thought about using their link and shipping to my house but I felt shady doing that .

I'll wait for that 3/15 posting.

My game is not good enough to play ProV's. I need an "economical" performance ball.

Love the Maxfli Tour balls. You can get a 48 pack for $120 at Dick's. Also play Vice Pro. 2 dozen for 49.95 at SAMs. Maxfli was rated as the best under-the-radar performance ball.

Good to know. I've been playing Titleist Trufeel, but the Vice Pro is the same price at Sam's with a urethane cover.

I’ll second the Maxfli Tour X. That’s a really solid ball for something cheaper.
