Liberty is coming to town this weekend? Who's bright idea was that? That should really prepare us for the SEC tournament/post season play

There's an uneven number of SEC softball teams so every weekend one SEC team doesn't have a conference series. Ours just falls on the final weekend of the season.

And BTW, Liberty has a top 40 RPI.

Does anyone need any more proof that the fans who constantly bitch about every little thing actually don't have the slightest clue what they are talking about.

Right you are. I would be happy if we beat them 2 out of 3. Berzon might have to throw 2 shutouts for us to win 2

I'm not arguing if there were even or odd numbered softball teams in the SEC. I'm arguing why you wouldn't schedule this non-conference series earlier in the year, not right before tournament time, when you're making a push for seeding with strength of schedule etc.

Are you saying they should have taken the weekend off?

This question might be answered if you bothered to read the replies.

You have doubled down on "stupid".

LSU has NO say which weekend their bye falls in league. The league tells them which weekend they aren't scheduled.

And as far as who you schedule, you are at the mercy of whatever other teams around the country also have a conference bye week the same week you do.

Liberty was solid last year, and are top 40 this year. It is a good series to schedule, and Torina's mindset about it is correct:

quote:

“We need a little reset here. We have a long week (no midweek games). We’re done with SEC play and it feels like we can come up for air before we head to the SEC tournament.”

How? There are an uneven number of softball teams and this is LSU weekend for non-conference series. Go on Vanderbilt board and complain.

Vanderbilt is riding the SEC gravy train. Can’t they be forced to field a softball team? Not that I care very much.

Like the OP, I didn't know this either, but I nevertheless feel compelled to downvote his posts.

I don't think it was a bad idea if we had won more conference games. It "might" have given the team a little break, but that's not for sure either. We might get our butt kicked.
