Try to convince me a man who sends his wife 4 hours away to other teams games doesn’t recruit

All in good fun

Update: Miley is 312 down the lines, 328 in the power alleys, and 372 on each side of the monster in CF. It probably doesn't get to 400. The area between the 328 and 372, and dead CF, play big.

thats because she has forgotten more about baseball than 99.99% of this board has ever known. for those that do not know, she is the brains behind everything. Brilliant brilliant lady when it comes to baseball, both mechanics and strategy.

so doesnt surprise me he had her there at all.

75 percent of all these players stuff for the last 3-4 years is online. Why the need to scout? you can scout a kid all you want when he throwing Low 90's 65-75 percent strikes and has an era of .385 and faced everyone's ace and locked down everyone allowing 3 ER all year. oh and he's beat Catholic twice in their 5 loses in 2 years. You cant stop that by scouting can you?

There are more things to scout than a teams top pitcher in a 3 game series. The ace can only win one game. Scouting ways to pitch to your batters is more likely the scenario.

Uh you can't see
1. coverages
2. the actual pitches
3. time to plate
4. time to 2b
5. signs
6. intangibles

I could go on and on... So many things you can pick up in person - 3 Very huge upsets in the past I had my hand in them from.... eyes on scouting.

its not him they are just scouting. there is the bunt coverages, timing the catcher, timing the slide step, timing of the pick off. also strength and weakness of each batter. lots and lots of things to scout including tale by both pitcher and catcher or even tale for a pickoff.

Wasn't she his asst coach at some point?

That whole family bleeds baseball. I bet they have family recipes that include glove leather and pine tar.

At this point in the playoffs, if you aren't at least a little nervous about an upcoming opponent, you are setting yourself up to get beat. Baseball is that way.

And the 25% that isn't is where the weaknesses are and THAT is what you need to know, just as much as the strengths.

exactly. why wouldnt they be worried about a team that has 2 legit pitchers, with 1 being an absolute dude? would make no sense not to be.

and much of that is garbage, or a year or so old. And the stuff from paid services is all over the place. Catcher pop times 1.95-2.24

And you still don’t know how well the pitcher holds you own, time to plate, is that throw even on the right side of the bag? Then the myriad of situational stuff that may reveal weaknesses.

And I don’t know the lady, but I bet a woman scouting is twice as meticulous as a man.
