I agree. You’d have to be an idiot to go anywhere near that place.

So far it’s been exceptionally good. Rules being enforced.

Trombone Shorty blasting it with New Breed.

Prejean’s pheasant gumbo still excellent.

Nice breeze. It’s warm but not sweltering.

Pretty happy crowd.

That is a huge catwalk extension of the stage that takes up a lot of room. This has to be the first time JazzFest has ever done this type of stage for a band.

It’s hotter in the WWOZ tent than it is outside. Usually very much the opposite.

Older crowd, as you might expect.

The crowd for Elton John was insane. What was the estimate for that?

160,000 in 2001 for Dave Matthews was the record for a while, may still be.. Elton was probably not that far off

MTV article

LINK

"Due to the Saturday appearance of the Dave Matthews Band on the seven-day event's second weekend, the festival set a single-day attendance record of 160,000. This figure shattered the earlier record of 98,000 visitors set in 1998, when Jimmy Buffett appeared, a festival spokesperson said."

They’ve got lanes cleared and barricades up. Didn’t have that for Elton John. I still predict a shitshow, but not as bad as that was.

The Stones fricking killed it in Houston on Sunday night. I can’t believe how good guys like them and Paul McCartney still are in concert.
