Well, seems there’s more to it

quote:

It’s like looney tunes around here,” the Suns source told Hoops Wire. “It’s felt unstable since (Ishbia) arrived. He’s a good guy and everything, I think, but he’s just very involved. Too involved. I know he played (college basketball at Michigan State), but I’d venture to say he has no idea what he’s doing when it comes to basketball. Yet he’s making a lot of the big decisions.

The source went on to compare Ishbia’s ownership to the ownership of Dan Gilbert with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the early 2000s. Gilbert is also a Michigan State product — though he and Ishbia own competing mortgage companies and reportedly don’t speak at league owners’ meetings, or really, any other time. They’re said not to like each other.

“Back in the day, the Cavs’ basketball staff would do their coaching search, and Dan would do his coaching search,” the source said. “He’s not like that now, from everything I know. He lets the basketball people handle that stuff. Ishbia doesn’t. He’s a pain in the (butt) to be honest.”

So Ishbia is a pain in the butt because he wants to win?

I mean the dude is paying a butt load of money for this team to win and they may get swept in the first round. Frankly, I think he has right to be a pain in the butt. I wouldn’t be surprised if this so called source is from Vogel camp and they don’t like how hes being blamed for this. Its hard for me to blame an owner who is paying a lot of money into the team and is trying to win.

It sounds like he’s being one of those owners that’s wanting to make every single decision himself, but is blaming the people he hires when things go wrong.

Basically the type of owner nobody will want to work for and he will be relegated to hiring first timers within 5 years

This would 100% be me if I ever come into $5 billion.

Oh most definitely, I would run the Pelicans right into the ground

Or make them better by trading BI

I don’t really know

Also the type of owner that is putting a lot of his money to win and if they don’t people will go. Its a sports business- suns fans complained befire that the previous owner was cheap and now the issue is this one is too involved?? Again its all cause losing, no one will give a shite if they win.

Lol ok this is straight BS. Show me an organization where this has happened and they’re not successful anymore?

Here’s another one Mike Malone of the Nuggets. Guess where he was an assistant coach?

Back in the 90s, he used to play in England Div 1. Masai Ujuri used to play for my local team. Have seen them play against each other.

Ain't that the truth.

That team is not staying together.

Problem with Phoenix is what do they have to trade?

Everyone of their tradeable guys are free agents currently, they can’t aggregate players, they can’t take back more salary than they send out.

They’re pretty much screwed unless they’re trading KD or Booker

I want to lean more in on offense but the Suns are a scary example of how that could backfire.

You have three dudes who can score 30 ppg, another who is one of the best 3 point shooters in the league, and they're getting swept.

That tells me you need a balance. Duh, right?

I think this could work:

Murray
Herb
Trey
Zion
Allen

Jose
Hawkins
Dyson
Naji
Another big

My concern is that you don't have a ton of shooting still. Hawkins is going to have to be a consistent 40 percent guy and Naji, Jose, Herb, Dyson and even Zion will need to take more and get better from deep.

I like what OKC has built, it feels very current/modern NBA. An offensive engine with a bunch of 2 way role players that can play more than one position. The Pels are halfway down that track, they just need to go all in on Zion and turn the pieces that don't fit into better fitting pieces.

In a trade for Murray and Allen i would want to send out BI and Nance and keep CJ, but bring CJ off the bench to run the bench units.

You keep that offense and add more offense along with defense to the starting 5 with Murray and Allen.

BIG issue with that is MM is adament that any trade with Atlanta HAS to have Herb going to Atlanta otherwise they are not even listening.
