I watch games when I can. I was excited when they first brought him in as a piece towards the future. Dude just sucks now and is a turnover or bad shot waiting to happen.

CJ was one of reasons we were in it late dude.

Do yall just watch highlights of missed shots and then come here to say a player sucks?

He's an aging, undersized, guard that should be asked to do less as he gets older. Unfortunately, we have to ask him to do more. You can tell he's gassed out there when he has to try to create his own shot.

No idea why we didn't go down to the post more with Val last night. Increasingly frustrating to watch him being called out past the 3 point line to set a screen when none of our ball handlers actually enter the paint after having the screen set for them. Just post him up and get him the entry pass. It was one of our most efficient looks all night last night.

He’s a great pair with Zion, BI not so much. If you let CJ play off ball, he does what you want from a player. Guy shot 43% from 3s this year. You want someone like that on your team.

He took a big step up late and his game 1 ended up on the good side of things. He just fricked up on the last possession b/c he's not a legit ballhandler

When he's asked to be a number 2 with BI. When BI was out and Zion was in, CJ and Trey got so many great looks because of all the advantages that Zion created. BI doesnt create as many advantages, leaving CJ and Trey to create more for themselves which leads to inefficiency

CJ was brought in to be a veteran leader and the #3 option as a shooting guard. Now you are asking him to be the #1 option because BI sucks and Zion is hurt. And you’re asking him to handle the ball more than he’s ever done.

Last night, and in particular the last possession, was obviously bad. But CJ has been great this year. It's seriously one game.

The dude has been statistically the best 3 point shooter in the entire NBA this year. When you factor in volume, percentage, and overall made three's, he's been the best. How exactly is that bad?

CJ was a huge reason we went on that 4-0 run at the end of the season.

He has also largely disappeared since then.

He can be a streaky guy, but he is a good compliment with Z this late in his career. Without Z's gravity, he seems to be struggling to me

Yeah, CJ's handle is fine, he's just not an explosive athlete with a great first step. Same for Brandon. They both struggle to get past good defenders when being pressured one-on-one. Sadly, Willie seems to endorse the old NBA cliche that, at the end of the game, you just give it to your best player, clear out, and let them go get you a bucket. But there are no Michael Jordans or Kobe Bryants on this team...

The CJ hate from this fanbase is out of control. It's honestly an easy way to separate the level headed people from the idiots.

Dude averaged 22, 4, and 5 post All-Star break while shooting 45% from the field and 44% from three, and had less than two turnovers a game.

Guys have bad games, off nights. It happens. He's going through a bit of a rough stretch right now. Mind you his "bad game" that people are melting over he had 20 and 6 on 41% from the field.

And to answer the OP's original question, CJ started to suck on Tuesday, 4/16 in the play-in game against the Lakers. In the seven games before that, he averaged more than 30 points a game on better than 50% shooting from the 3-point line. He also played 40 minutes a night, which could have a lot to do with what we've seen in the last three games...

Why is no one discussing the misses from Nance on 3/4 last possessions.???

CJ has been great this year because he has been an amazing perimeter shooter and wasn't asked to do too much. With Ingram shitting the bed this post-season, CJ is being expected to carry too much of a load. He's also a histroically non-clutch playoff performer.

CJ has been crucial in making us legit. WTF are you talking about?
Like every player in the league, he can miss a shot or turn the ball over.

Which is why we should've drafted Cam Whitmore when he fell into our laps. Maybe Hawk becomes an elite level shooter, but it would be so nice to have someone other than Zion with any burst.

4 games ago he had just capped off a run of 5-10 games that saved our season...

He's definitely a streaky player. But also, asking him to be the #1 option just doesn't work, nor is that what we got him here to do.

What?

No one should want to trade CJ for Lillard.

Dame is better, but no one in their right mind should want Dame on this team after this season and his remaining contract. It would be the nail in the coffin.

Agree, Dame is owed almost $50 million next year and his deal goes up from there for another two years. He's good but that's a lot of loot for a smallish, aging point guard who doesn't play defense...

As others said, CJ is a good player in his off ball role as a 3-point shooter and secondary scorer. He's not the guy you hand the ball to with 10 seconds left and say "go win us the game..."
