BR Postal Serivce Mail Delays?

Anyone else experiencing a noticeable delay in mail being delivered to your P.O. Box or even home address? A year or so ago, it only took 2-3 days tops for me to get mail locally. Just prior to Covid, it was taking 5-7 days. Now I am experiencing 2 weeks plus. Just wondering if people lying to me about when they are mailing stuff or if other people are experiencing the same thing.
On another note, I have been seeing some postal service deliveries on Sunday, I assume these are packages from other carriers like Fedex, Amazon, UPS, etc where our postal service is making some side money. Maybe this side money is effecting their processing normal mail?

I read on Nextdoor that the postal service is short on manpower because people are afraid to work due to the caronavirus. Supposedly this poster talked to USPS about it.

also they recently stopped giving overtime to the employees who were picking up the slack. The delays are going to get worse.

The postal delivery system has been a damn mess around where I live. It doesn't bother me much because damn near anything important to me I do online or get via email and our Amazon packages don't seem to be having a delivery problem.
They are indeed lacking manpower, but even some of the normal people on our route suck. One lady is on her phone the entire time she delivers it seems and is always putting mail in the wrong boxes, etc. These are walking delivery people, so it isn't like they have to drive and try and sort the mail or put it in a box while watching traffic.

Yes. I’ve never had issues with USPS but recently I’ve had to wait much longer than normal. And it doesn’t appear to just be a local thing.
Last month I had 2 packages reach the processing plant off Bluebonnet and instead of going to my PO off Perkins, they were sent to Lafayette processing facility where they sat for 2 days.
Recently, I had a package sit in South Caroline for a week. It was shipped on 7/9, and it shows it supposed to be delivered today.
Frustrating for sure, but USPS workers work their arse off and I’ve always had great experiences with them so I’ll cut them some slack.

Oh yeah.
I've noticed this on package deliveries. I was also wondering if everyone was effected.

It’s an intentional part of the plan to privatize the USPS.

Go back 50 years and being a postal carrier was a job of pride that was done right and efficient. Fast forward to today's postal carrier. Not all but MOST of them could care less about the job or doing a good job. They're just coasting to retirement.

So the postal workers are sitting at home getting unemployment because they are afraid of a virus that hasn't stopped other essential workers from working?

Affirmative.
Guess it’s back to the brick & mortars to purchase products.

We've had massive delay's with pick-up and delivery in our 17 floor office building. The central mail room in the building houses 4 mail pick-up bins.
When the main post office was contacted after the mail hadn't been picked up for days, they were told....."Mail delivery is a requirement of the USPS, mail pick-up is a courtesy". An office building that leases over 30% of the sqft to the Federal Government + 2 major banking institutions and the USPS tells us that mail pick-up is not a requirement of the USPS?

"USPS work their asses off"?? What world do you live in ? Go stand in line at any P.O. & you'll find a line of customers waiting & waiting for the 2 workers to process their mail. Look behind the counter into the next room & you'll see 5-6-7 employees standing & sitting around doing nothing. When I asked 1 of the 2 actually working, she said that their union dictates who can do what work in the P.O. Their union runs the office, not the General Mgr according to my delivery lady.

Noticed that my snail mail is arriving at around 8 PM each night. I live at the end of our street so I guess I’m last person on their route, but 8 PM ?

It’s not just BR, it’s many areas. I had a priority packaged take over 7 days to just make it out of Atlanta, the postmaster looked into it and said they have massive delays all over the place because of a shortage of drivers and workers. USPS is changing how they operate to reduce overtime, extra trips, etc. LINK
