Yes. I worked a job for 3 months and during that time I found out that almost everything they told me during the interview was a lie. I quit and found a better job for more money within a week.
I had 2 kids and a mortgage so it was a very scary decision but it clearly was only going to get worse so I figured I just needed to bite the bullet now and figure out my next move.

Depends on what you want out of life. I quit my job at the tail end of covid when they said to vax little kids, babies and pregnant moms (no pics). Actually bought a house in another state without anything all lined up. We had saved a decent amount to have time to figure things out. I ended up working in a local brewery part time. Free beer and food on the job. Was almost an even trade after selling my house in ATX and buying another.
I regretted it at first, mostly cause of 25 years of shite in my house to move. Now that we are settled, I am glad we started over at 50. I don't intend to go back into my previous work unless things get dire. We also don't live to make heaps of money. I'm living on 5 acres of pines in a older but cool house and I wouldn't want to go back at this point.

man if I were you.. In todays world. have something lined up. That being said if you know your worth and know you can get another job quickly then just do it. No point in being miserable. Finally at a decent job for first time since I was a cop with decent management. Makes a big difference.

I have. Took a week off and grabbed up a counter job at a NAPA auto parts while looking for something else. Was there a month before getting hired on when a company that I spend 7 years with working up into management.

I don't know that I'd advise someone to do it, but I've done it myself. First "real" job was doing inside sales for a medical staffing company in Austin. Absolutely hated everything about it, but was good at it. Won President's Club and they put us in the Ritz-Carlton in the Grand Cayman's for 4 days, all-expenses paid.
Got back from that trip and resigned. I would've left sooner had I not won the award and gotten that awesome trip. I did have at least a 1st interview lined up with another company when I quit but no guarantees beyond that. Kinda dumb looking back but happy with where I am now so I guess it all worked out.

I almost did Friday. If not for the yearly bonus in June I probably would have.

This is important information. If you are helping support a family it would be fairly irresponsible to resign without options.

Did it last year and regretted it. I'm in tech and the job market is absolute shite right now. People with 10+ years of experience are having trouble finding anything. Outside of healthcare, the white collar job market is rough with interest rates being so high. Wouldn't recommend quitting unless you have at least a years worth of expenses saved up.

Yes. I just took an early retirement package that'll pay me my salary through the rest of the year, plus insurance. I'm 68, but plan to work on putting in-place my own business consulting in several niche technology markets where I'm an expert for defense systems and low Earth space systems using certain unique technologies.
My employer did not expect me to leave and has already suggested they would want to lock up my consulting services. I don't think so. I know their limitations and can do much better waiting the full year for my NDA to expire.
So, technically, nothing is "lined up" but I have lots of options.
