Reducing parole eligibility is going to cost us a lot of money. With our population shrinking, I wonder how the state plans to pay for the extra expenses of incarcerating people for longer periods. I'm curious what other people's thoughts are.

I would imagine most people would actually support this in favor of increased incarcerations, which has been proven for decades to be ineffective (just look at recidivism rates).
I haven't searched for it, but I vaguely recall a study or article by a prison abilitionist that did advocate for this and demonstrated that corporal punishment like caning did lead to an decrease in crime.

They don’t have ac. You propose starving?
End private prisons
Allow more work release
Curious how much is made off of commissary, phones, and email?
Who gets that money?

There are SO many scandals about this!
If you want to go down a rabbit hole later.

Employment is the single biggest factor impacting recidivism. If someone is able to find work, they stay out of jail.
3 downvotes for an established fact?

Wait, noting that our resident autist, SroFroPedo, has posted in this thread is a fart joke? Hunny, he really did post here. There wasn't no jokes being said. You can literally look at the post I replied to and see it is axchually him
Also I support your premise of speedrolling executions in order to get these animals off of our tax dollars. You're spot on with this.

Daycare subsidies won’t change kids whose parents indoctrinate them that whitey is evil and All Cops Are Bastards.
Unless you plan on having a “lost generation” of kids taken away from their parents to be raised in a boarding environment, a lot of those kids will be fricked from birth due to their home life. Enabling that shite because it is “their culture” worsens their prospects rather than improves them because it normalizes behavior that you don’t want.

It's much more costly not to lock them up.

I'm pretty sure that coddling criminals, babying them and not making them adequately suffer the consequences of their actions is a major fricking problem.

Now, the daily reimbursement rate for state inmates is $107. The annual cost of incarcerating one person is $39,274. We currently have more than 28,300 people in prisons across the state.
What a deal. So it is only costing $4.48 an hour to babysit and feed them. Now look at how much money is being paid by the prisoners to use the phones.

These aren’t adverse childhood experiences that are scientifically proven to diminish a persons lifelong mental and physical health.

Somehow Jeff Landry wants MORE incarceration in this state, can’t make this shite up.
Have you looked up Louisiana's rankings with regard to violent crime, murder, the numbers of criminals free to commit crimes with long criminal histories, over the last few decades? Louisiana needs more incarceration. There's a reason Louisiana's incarceration rate has been so high for years now... and contrary to what you and your fellow libs believe about "muh The New Jim Crow," and "racism," the numbers are completely warranted. And they should be higher. Louisiana needs to be utilizing the death penalty frequently too.

Such bullshite. You have to WANT to work. The problem is many of these dirt bag pieces of shite don't WANT to work. Or they think they should be be doing some shite job but making $30/hr... or should make as much as they can make selling drugs, robbing, burglarizing etc. Well, sorry. That's now how the real world works. No one is forcing them to be criminals. You make shitty choices, you pay the consequences. Deal with it.

Costs must be reduced. Prisoners at Angola used to grow their own food. Do they still do this ?
Angola is huge, there is no reason that they could not raise cattle, chickens and pigs. In addition they could grow beans .
They could use the cow hides to make their own shoes.
They could also learn how to build their own housing.

How does your rant disprove the fact that employment is the biggest indicator of recidivism?
Something isn’t bullshite just because you don’t like it. I can cite studies if you’re interested.

It is anecdotally shown to increase the chances that a child will resist any instruction they don’t want to deal with and act as if they are being persecuted for being asked to follow rules or the law.
IOW, it seriously raises the chances of having an antisocial individual who thinks they can do whatever they want and blames “the man” when they finally get told “no” by the cops and the courts.
