MS Gov Tater Tot Reeves Shitty Take

Tate Reeves is shitting the bed when it comes to legislation regarding medicinal marijuana. The citizens of Mississippi has already voted (74%) in favor of medicinal marijuana. Yet, he still is referring to the medicinal properties as “pot” or “joints”.
His completely idiotic logic behind a veto is that he doesn’t want the terrible weeds on the street because of his daughters….??. He needs to give the people what they want and quit trying to play politics on something that will be one of the very few positives for this state.
Here’s his quote…can’t link because he posted it to Facebook.

Medicinal or Recreational marijuana? That is the question. I’ve repeatedly told the members of the Legislature that I am willing to sign a bill that is truly medical marijuana. One that has reasonable restrictions to ensure that it doesn’t have an adverse effect on Mississippi’s economy. One that has reasonable restrictions to ensure that it doesn’t disrupt Mississippi families. A program that helps those Mississippians who truly need it for an illness. In many ways, the work done on the original draft of the Legislature’s bill helped address some of these issues. There is one remaining point in question that is VERY important: how much marijuana any one individual can get in any given day. Unlike any other drug, this program allows virtually unlimited access to marijuana once you qualify. There is no pharmacist involved and no doctor setting the amount. There is only what legislators call a “budtender” serving you pot. We don’t have “pilltenders” for other medicine. This is unique. The bill allows any individual to get 3.5 grams of marijuana per day. A simple google search shows that the average joint has 0.32 grams of marijuana. Therefore any one individual can get enough weed to smoke 11 joints a day. Every day. In Oklahoma (which has a similar system of dispensing to what is proposed) 376,000 Oklahomans have signed up for a marijuana card. That is roughly 10% of the population of the entire state. An equivalent sign-up rate in Mississippi would yield 300,000 Mississsippians with a card to get up to 11 joints per day. That would allow the disbursement of 3.3 million joints per day in our state, which is the equivalent of approximately 100 million joints per month. That would be 1.2 billion legal joints sold in Mississippi per year. Call me crazy, but I just think that’s too broad of a starting point. I am asking the Legislature to simply cut that amount in half to start the program. It is a simple fix. If it is determined in the future that more pot is needed in Mississippi, that could always be increased in future legislative sessions. Why not start carefully? I believe that is a reasonable approach. If you disagree, I respect your opinion. We can sit down five years from now and take a thorough review of the actual outcomes. But—as the dad of three daughters that I love dearly—I cannot put my name on a bill that puts that much marijuana on the streets of Mississippi. I hope that legislative leaders will see fit to consider reducing the tremendous amount of weed they seek to make legally accessible so that I can sign their bill and we can put this issue to rest. God bless you, Mississippi!!

Is there a law in MS that prevents anyone from buying 20 kegs of beer and 10 cases of whiskey a day?

Yeah just what MS needs. More druggies..That is exactly what will happen.

I don’t know why people continue to pretend that pot is used medicinally for any significant portion of its usage.
It’s just a way to get pot legalized.

As much as they can afford and carry.
This is just dumb logic.

Sounds like he has a good take on the situation. This appears to be more on the legislature for writing an open ended law and calling it medicinal. If its truly passed for medicinal then why is it difficult for the legislature to correct the concerns and get it done?

I’m not a user and think it is the most overrated thing ever, but there is no logical reason for marijuana to be illegal.
Alcohol-legal
Tobacco-legal
Both of those are exponentially more harmful than weed.
Again, I’ve tried it but don’t use it, don’t recommend it, but damn just make it legal and be done with these stupid discussions.

Tate Reeves has been a fantastic Governor for MS.
Anyone who prioritizes marijuana legislation over the accomplishments of Reeves is a retard and frankly a loser.
I share the basic opinions you have. Legislation supported by the people shouldn’t be vetoed. Marijuana being legalized makes sense to me in general.
But FFS keep the eye on the ball.

MS is doing wonders with Opiates and prescription painkillers Tate. But let’s all get cramps over a plant that it is impossible to overdose on.
Your daughters could get Frat boy Chad to buy them a fifth of vodka, chug it and die.
Nobody has ever overdosed on marijuana in flower form.
I get it. Aunt Mildred and Mawmaw Rhonda are clinching their prayer beads over this and you are trying to be a good boy.
Stop being a pussy Tate.

I think there should be no limits.
I don't smoke and I don't have any medical conditions that would be helped by smoking it.
Is 5-6 joints a day (the initial limit he seems to be proposing) a lot? Are there people out there that would need more than 5-6 joints a day for medical purposes to alleviate their condition?

Does voting even matter in MS? Every time the state flag was voted on, the vote was to keep it. lol too bad
Vote to legalize pot? lol too bad
What are y’all even doing over there?
