Any recommendations for a Baton Rouge area wholesaler?

Not sure if that kneepad is for the guy to propose or for the gal to say yes.

I read an article some time back that says the whole "spend 3 months salary on the engagement ring" thing was started in the late 60's/early 70's by a very bright ad man from Madison Avenue in NYC.
It was never a thing until they spammed it all over print and TV until people started repeating it thinking it was some kind of long-lived tradition.

#3, $20K for an engagement ring is dumb. If ya still married in 20 yrs then get her a $20K upgrade.
A $20k upgrade is just as dumb because it's no longer her engagement ring, it's just an expensive ring.

I've also heard to get the ring shipped to a different state and pick up at a FedEx or UPS store. I was told one could avoid sales tax this way as long as the seller does not have a presence in the state it is shipped to.

I would pay extra for a blood diamond. There is something about getting a diamond obtained from forced labor that is hot.

That's an amateur response
Hint: she will most certainly learn the truth.

I paid in cash and they didn't make me pay any taxes on the engagement ring or wedding band. Saved me like $800 I believe.

1+ for the lab grown.
Tell her you dont want a blood diamond, or that you want a green one. I acually got a good deal on 1 ct diamond studs (2ct tw) @ Macys in BR of all places.

Brilliance in Diamonds, a diamond broker in Metairie. You won’t regret it.

Use Blue Nile or James Allen. Never heard a bad thing and they have a ton of options.
Not really negotiable but you can get something you’re comfortable with and they don’t have as much overhead and marketing included in the cost.

Forego the expensive, overpriced ring. Put the money toward your future. If you make ten years together, then consider the ring. If she gets pissed about that, move along. Thank me later.

Same bros telling him to don't even get a ring/get a fake diamond are the same dudes feverishly forking over 2-3-times retail for a stainless steel Rolex.

Negative.
I told of my Timex with the silicone band that got dickered by an unruly squirrel just the other day. I still haven't decided if I'm going to break down and buy a new watch or not.
ETA: At least there is some rarity driving the value of the Rolex. That cannot be said for a ring.

Nothing wrong with a beater.

Sort of....that Rolex rarity is by design just like the diamond with Rolex intetionally controlling availability or lack thereof.

True. I shipped a ring i got out of a gumball machine and saved a lot. Walked out with the real ring.

Jew mafia, find a connection, being completely serious, mine ensured for more than double what I paid.

Come up to the diamond district in NYC if you can get an invite. I had an “in” and it was a helluva experience. Made me realize how OT poor I am.
