Born and raised in NewYork. Both parents were Alabama grads.Watched the last half of the LSU -Arkansas 1966 Cotton Bowl by myself. Decided right then that I would go to LSU. Been bleeding purple and gold ever since. Forever LSU.

Sitting and watching the few Tiger games that came on TV in the 60s with my Grandaddy. That sealed the deal.

I moved to LA in 7th grade. My neighbors dad took me and my little brother to our first game with his son. Sat outside his car and ate Popeyes chicken. Sat in south end zone. First notes of the band playing Pregame gave me goosebumps. Herb Tyler and Kevin Faulk.

But what got me was the sweet little old lady sitting near us that was very quiet until a bad call happened and she stood up and shouted “That’s fricking horseshite ref. horseshite.” And then calmly sat back down.

I was hooked. Knew this is where I wanted to go to college.

Kind of gradual with attending LSU a big part of it.

Neither of my folks went to college so I had no connection in that regard. Growing up in Metairie in my teen years in the 70s and early 80s, didn't really care about LSU football (they were never on TV), but became a fan of LSU basketball due to Dale Brown's teams that went to March Madness and eventually the Final Four the first time. I think I got my first LSU t-shirt around that time.

Visited the campus for things like academic rally and Boy's State, but it didn't really make that much of an impression on me.

When I was looking at colleges prior to HS graduation in 1982, LSU was not even considered. So many of my classmates were going there that I wound up calling it "High School Plus". Plus, I wanted to REALLY get away from home, far away, and wound up taking a scholarship at Trinity University in San Antonio.

Of course, that fall, LSU's football team went gangbusters, while I was at a small private school with a Division III program and far too many spoiled rich kids. My friends at LSU would call me up drunk on Saturday nights after games; it was clear they were having a blast. Before Thanksgiving break I decided I would finish the academic year at Trinity and go to LSU the next year, which I did.

Best move I ever did.

Those 3 academic years at LSU were without a doubt the best years of my life: grew up a lot, learned SO much and had an absolute blast. Didn't hurt that all three years we had pretty good sports teams: with Dale Brown we went to the Final Four my senior year, under Bill Arnsparger we went to bowl games, and Skip was just getting started with College World Series ballclubs.

Now it's a family thing. My sister attended LSU after me. My wife went undergrad to Xavier (full ride) but got her MD from LSU Med School. My two daughters and my sister's 2 sons are all either at LSU or LSU grads.

Joined the A.F. and sent to England A.F.B. in 1979. Started watching them. Couple years later sitting on the porch drinking Bud with future FIL and listen to game looking out over Bayou Rapides. We would hunt until game and watch or listen to the game. MIL and Fiancé would cook Doves or Squirrels.

When I was around 2 years old, back in 1969, I was given a blow up plastic LSU Tiger to play with. I think the Tiger had a number 1 on the "jersey" that was displayed. I started following LSU Football when I was around 10 years old and went to my first home game when i was 11.

When I was in eight grade, I started following LSU basketball in 1979/1980. I became a big fan of Dale Brown. I got an autographed basketball from my dad that was signed by coach Brown. I was hooked as an LSU fan.

Father had bachelor ('35) and masters ('36) degrees there, taught there for 33 years after getting ph.d. in agronomy at Iowa State; Alumni professor of the year in '75; met my mother there working in the cafeteria; she received her bachelors degree there. My brother and his wife graduated there. I received my undergraduate (BR) and medical (Shreveport) degrees there. Various nieces and nephews have graduated.
Went to my first game when I was six years old. We had "family plan" faculty tickets in the '50's for $24 per 6 game set of four (a dollar per game per ticket).
My brother was in Tiger Stadium for Cannon's Ole Miss run.

Back in the early 60's when my Dad was growing up in the small Mississippi town we both grew up in, the court square was where everyone would hang out on the weekends. He said he would listen to the LSU games on WWL on Saturday nights and it just grew from there and I was raised a Tiger Fan!

LSU won half of its championships during the time I was there. I often entertain the idea of getting another degree at LSU after retirement, just in case it brings another one.

Entire family is from Louisiana. Most either went to LSU or worked offshore.

Some of my earliest memories were my dad screaming at the TV during the Dinardo years.

There are pics of me as a baby in LSU and Saints gear.

My family and I were all born in Louisiana. Let’s be honest, if all of us were born in Wyoming we’d be Wyoming fans.

Absolutely not. You don’t have to be a fan of the team in the state that you’re from. Some of the coolest fandom stories are people who are not from Louisiana but have some sort of connection and it sparked a massive LSU fandom.

IMO some of the biggest Tiger fans are not even from Louisiana.

Starting from the time I was eight years old and on through my 20's and 30's, I would always go on hunting trips with my dad in October. We'd pull our camper to a place in the woods in Lincoln Parish. We'd meet his friends and their kids and we'd go hunting. And in the evenings, we'd sit around a campfire to have dinner While the men were drinking beer, and we'd be eating and making s'mores, we'd listen to the LSU Radio Network. Usually, it would be Alabama, Auburn, Florida or Ole Miss depending on the week we'd go. But I vividly remember the disdain I developed for Alabama in particular from listening year after year to Bear Bryant beating Charlie Mac.

So, that's how I became an LSU fan.

Skip Bergman and LSU baseball, then Chris Jackson and shaq got me interested in LSU basketball, and finally I love football and I enjoyed watching LSU (curly years) and then Kevin Faulk going to LSU finalizes my love of LSU football.
