Like a little piece of rope going across the front on top of the brim. It looks ridiculous and I just don’t remember seeing them until fairly recently. Is there a reason for this?

Every old man in the 90s had that style.

Assuming it is some retro throwback being worn ironically.

Like pray it don't rain hats in the 2000s

I'm guessing you're in your late 20s or early 30s. It's an old style that has made its way back.

It’s a classic style of hat and you’re just oblivious to the world around you

They used to be hanging in every country gas station in the south.

In my papaw’s old office he’s got caps from the 70’s to the early 2000’s of everything from tractor dealerships
to fuel companies. Need to dig through them and start wearing them.

They've been around for a long time. This is a picture from the 1960 New Orleans Open. Notice the hats on golfer Dow Finsterwald and a couple of the onlookers in back.

You've heard of dad hats. These are grandpa caps.

Pretty sure the MAGA Hat made the rope hat popular again like 7 years ago.

All of the caps from nice resorts were made that way when I was going to places like Vail and Copper Mountain. Those caps look great after they've been worn enough to look old. They were my favorites when I was in my 20's and 30's.

As has been shown by pics, they're also sold at golf courses.

These things have been around for years. My great grandad wore em, barely on the top of his head.

They look fine to me. What looks stupid is shite are the damn flat billed hats.
