Regardless of its problems, Cuba’s economy is huge and far flung.

Wonder if this encourages them even more to invade Taiwan
Won't solve any of their problems and will be suicide for the CCP/Xi

China's declining population is also a huge problem that will contribute to their fall.
Once that happens they will be in societal reset.
Perhaps they don't skip steps this time and China actually becomes that superpower. It will be in 2100 or later, but it could happen finally

I remember a time when Jake pretty much only shite-posted on the OT. His Poli-board personality is a sight to behold.
Uh, I've been posting heavily on the poli board since at least 2004.
I've been promoting freedom and smaller government consistently since 2005. Nothing has changed.

quote:That would be shortsighted. If they decide to invade Taiwan, we could quickly find ourselves in economic straits as well.
Can we stop with projecting fear porn about China?

Post this data under a Trump Presidency and this board's puking upvotes.

China probably can't take Taiwan easily and this would be literal suicide long-term.
That's very Neville Chamberlain-ish of you.

China has some serious problems, including a longterm demographics problem that I don't think is fixable. With that said, this could make China more dangerous in terms of military aggression.

I have been around a while, too. Didn't you have a leftist bent for a minute? (Not taking a shot; I just seem to remember you shifting from more left-leaning/government-interventionist to, I guess, quasi-libertarian).

Animals backed into a corner are the most dangerous.
Dangerous primarily to itself. Assuming China enters an economic depression, it's greatest threat is revolution and its ultimate focus will be on controlling it. Beyond the odd skirmish, China does not have the resources to fight the West and a civil war at the same time.
And as far as Taiwan goes. Taiwan has been preparing for war against China for decades now. They understand the Chinese and its capabilities much in the same way South Korea understands the North.
I forget who said it but decades ago it was postulated that in order to stave off revolution in China, you just needed to keep them fed. A bowl of rice on every table with every meal. There are still people alive in China who remember those days and aren't too far removed from actual starvation.

They don't need a military, just a finger.

We can continue wasting money and time worrying about China if you choose, but I'm kind of for America First and kind of want to put my energy and money into us.
But if you want to continue to pay higher prices for unnecessary tariffs, be my guest.
The US govt loves to tax you.

We underestimated China's military once before and they nearly drove our asses right into the sea in Korea. That was with a bunch of shoeless peasant soldiers. Now they will be fighting against our pregnant trannies.
