Scorsese borderline ruined some of his movies with narration.

If Todd Howard doesn't release Fallout 5: Los Angeles in a short period of time, he's is in real danger of physical harm. Damn that show for rekindling this urge to roam the wasteland.

A24 horror movies try too hard to be "cinema" and fail at being entertaining... or scary.

Seinfeld isn't a funny show.

Fat comics aren't funny, either.

Wonka could've been a Wizarding World of Harry Potter movie .

Michael Sheen and David Tennant might be the most underrated comedic duo of the past 60 years.

Episodes like "Connection Lost" from Modern Family, or any of the ones where they call back to unseen clips filmed at the time during previous seasons are inspired brilliance and deserved all the Emmys.

Scorching take but true.

Also, Season 2, while way too overly complicated, had a few of the best episodes of TV ever in The Riddle of the Sphinx and Kiksuya.

There's an adage in filmmaking that using narration is a lazy crutch to storytelling.

Scorsese used it a lot in his career.

That knocks him down a bit.

Grease is overrated as musicals go, and Grease 2 isn't as bad as some purists would make you believe.

There are a few I don't mind. Blade Runner is understandable because the studio probably thought, nobody is gonna know what the frick is going on.

But Scorsese half the the time is just taking pictures and reading you the story instead of the pic telling you the story.

I never liked Taxi Driver because of Travis Bickles inner-monologues. Just show him losing it, don't have him tell us.

Goodfellas, as iconic as the narration is....didn't need it if you think about it.

Casino maybe did because that movie couldn't be told under 5 hours without narration.

The deal is Scorsese likes to tell ambitious stories that is overwhelming, so he falls back on well...just reading you the movie and showing what happens is just confirmation of what we were already told.

2001: A Space Odyssey is a unique film in that it's both overrated and underrated at the same time.

It's overrated by people who love it, but for the wrong reasons. And it's underrated by those who dislike it... also for the wrong reasons.

It's why the film is always a problem to rate.

And this post is equally as obtuse as the film. You're welcome.

The genius is not in how much Stanley Kubrick does in "2001: A Space Odyssey," but in how little. This is the work of an artist so sublimely confident that he doesn't include a single shot simply to keep our attention. He reduces each scene to its essence, and leaves it on screen long enough for us to contemplate it, to inhabit it in our imaginations. Alone among science-fiction movies, “2001" is not concerned with thrilling us, but with inspiring our awe.
. - Roger Ebert

There's truth in that...it was something for its time, Im"s told. Seeing it on VHS on an RCA is pointless....which I learned.... I never got the real deal.

But there's also truth in that it's time has come and gone....but there was an era when it was truly special.

Winner of the hottest take.

It's completely wrong, but it's hotter than Hades.
