Brother Martin comes up

Brother Martin and St. Stanislaus are both Brother’s of the Sacred Heart schools. They are in separate Dioceses.

Catholic High, E.D. White, and Vanderbilt are also Brothers of the Sacred Heart schools.

There are more in other states as well

Ah, the affiliation to NOLA schools has always been unclear to me.

Brother Martin comes up and uses the OLG facilities (annual fishing tournament?) but you never see NOLA school bus names around here.

Your kid has been there for years and, with all the minutia you concern yourself with, you never picked up on this affiliation?

I attended New Mexico Military Institute. Idk what it’s like these days but it was a much better option than any public school in S LA.

Really?

Not affiliated with the NOLA Brothers of the Sacred Heart…but it is affiliated with Biloxi side? What other schools are over there in MS?

Ya don’t know the history there with Br.Martin?

Not at all. I grew up in Alexandria La…so IDK shite about Catholic schools down here. I went to Catholic school K-12…so I did the same with my son.

Y’all ever go to football games here? That’s the extent of my interaction outside of getting married in OLG and the family sacraments.

Not sure how someone can explain it better to you. Stanislaus is a BSH school but not located in N.O. so not under N.O. Arcdiocese. It instead falls under the Biloxi Archdiocese.

They are all the same "side". There is also almost none of them left really.

I think they had an affiliated school in Mobile at one point, but none others in Mississippi.

I realize you’re looking for places in or near Louisiana, but the really good boarding schools in the US are in New England if you can get him/her in and if you can afford it.

The bankruptcy of the Archdiocese of New Orleans has nothing to do with tuition at Brother Martin, Jesuit, DeLaSalle, Holy Cross, or most of the girls' schools. Brother Martin is run under the auspices of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, although they follow some academic guidelines of the archdiocese.

As has been posted the Brothers or their lay collaborators since many of them are aging, now run the schools. These include Catholic in Baton Rouge, St. Stanislaus in the Diocese of Biloxi, and McGill-Toolen in Mobile. I thought I read recently that they Brothers pulled out of either Vandebilt or E.D. White.

I thought that one had closed?

There was a military academy in port Gibson as well…. Think it was chamberlain hunt. Unless that’s the one you were talking about and they changed the name. It is also closed. I knew a few guys that got pulled from my school and got sent there. They came back worse than before.

Will be 15 years in the fall, held him back in kindergarten, and I have no idea. I just looked it up and SSC is both in Diocese of Biloxi and they have Brothers of the Sacred Heart serving on the faculty. I thought that the OLG church raised money for HTCS and OLA but not SSC. I guess there’s an ‘under the dioces’ but not fully funded by the dioces.
