They went 38-2 and won their last 20 games while dominating in the playoffs. I know we have had many threads on best highschool football team ever. What past teams could match up with this years team?

I'm going to just assume some Barbe or WMHS teams could compete. Barbe has been #1 in the nation a few times.

Barbe from last year went 39-1. Scoring 355 runs and only allowing 40.

Half their games were shutouts. Doubt there is a better team than Barbe 2023.

Catholic is going to finish #1 in most or all of the polls this season.

“Best” is a hard argument because it’s subjective. They may be the “most accomplished” though. They beat like 5-6 nationally ranked teams and swept the other 5A champion who is ranked in the top 20 in the country.

And one of their losses has a huge asterisk by it. They hit a three-run home run against Mandeville in the 6th which would have sealed the game but the ump called it foul (it was four feet inside the pole) and admitted he didn’t see it clear the fence so he had to stick with the call on the field.

They beat Neville that year with Brister. Neville beat us in the quarterfinals.

That Barbe team or the 2014 team. Both finished ranked #1 in the country and both were loaded

#1 rhp in the nation. plus a bunch of others

couple of the barbe teams could rival this catholic team in overall accomplishments.

William Schmidt. I don’t think it’s any doubt he is a 1st round pick

Probably the Jesuit teams from 1960 or 1980 that were State Champs and American Legion National Champs.
