All the posts about the wall and Mexico paying for it have me wondering why people are already preemptively making excuses for Trump not meeting all his promises? I thought Trump supporters wanted change from business as usual? Isn't saying one thing to get elected then not following thru what Washington has been doing that pissed everyone off?

Why are people already saying they don't want a real wall and forcing Mexico to pay for it was a pipe dream? There are already articles and posts saying they understand that it may take more time than Trump promised to repeal the ACA; why?

If Trump is really going to MAGA then his supporters are going to have to hold his feet to the fire and vote him out in 2020 if he can't deliver on what he promised.

that was before corruption became the focal point. There are bigger targets right now.

If a non-physical wall is more effective, why not? Also wasn't it going to be paid for by taxing money transactions to Mexico (basically them paying for it)?

We kept a criminal out of the Oval Office.

That was top priority for a lot of us. I'd have voted for PeeWee Herman to do that if that's what it took.

I expect ACA repealed and replaced in first 100 days.

I expect the wall to begin construction within the first 2 years of his presidency.

He isn't even in office yet. Obama had 8 years, where are the results of those promises?

A lot of people didn't vote for him because of a wall. In an effort for a "GOTCHYA!" post, you're stereotyping all Trump voters as agreeing with every single one of his philosophies.

TL/DR: Gotchya posts are annoying, and you should feel bad.

Let's hear your opinion of Obama's broken promises if you want any credence about asking of Trump's potential promises. Why you so worried about Trump's promises all of a sudden?

Shut it. I don't recall you holding Obama accountable for any of his LIES.
I love the Hypocrisy of the Democrat party.

I just posted this on another board. This is about the wall.

quote:

I don't think his Mexican wall will happen. He came in hard and will probably end up settling with amnesty. I can see Mexico agreeing to protecting it's own southern border as the majority of all immigrants crossing illegally now are central American (which makes it even stupider to demand Mexico for payment when they aren't the majority anymore)

Actually can easily happen and can easily be funded. Billions of dollars are wired back to Mexico via Western Union. We can tax money being wired out of the country. Trust me, we wire money to and from Brazil and try to avoid it at all costs. Taxes are very high on wire transfers. 40% tax coming from Brazil to U.S. unless against an invoice for goods.

Also, the fees for tourism & business visas can be raised for people coming in from Mexico. Of course, they will reciprocate and visas will rise for U.S. visitors to Mexico. Most countries reciprocate visa fees based on what the U.S. charges. Of course using visa fees it is most likely U.S. visitors to Mexico that will pick up a large portion of the wall.

There are numerous ways to pay for a wall outside of U.S. taxpayer dollars and spending bills.

I think Trump missed out on a great reason for the wall as a benefit to Mexico is another level of stopping drug smuggling. Right now people cross the border in convoys carrying enormous bales of drugs. Just so easy. A wall... whether a real wall, a wall of enhanced border monitoring, or more agents in remote areas makes smuggling that much harder. Not so easy to get drugs in. Right now every cartel in South America is coming in and establishing a presence along the Mexican border because of smuggling. Put a big dent in this and cartels and crime along the border decreases. They are there because it is so easy right now to do business in the U.S.

Mexico put a wall up on it's southern border because of criminals coming in. Not because of people wanting to get to the U.S. There problem is that a lot of the criminals come in and stay. Some also come to the U.S.

I can only speak for myself Jeffrey but I don't expect Trump to do most of what he promised. I supported him as a way of saying frick YOU! to the main stream news media. I supported Trump because I object to being called racist because I was order and not chaos on our borders. I'm tired of being called racist because I don't copulate minority genitals. The real people that run this country ,the Hidden Hand, will not allow Trump to make drastic changes.

Supporters aren't making the wall posts, detractors are.

ACA taking a while is simply because the government fricked half our population by enacting it. Pulling it without ANY replacement would still be a poorer choice though.

What's funny is that trump has been critical of NAFTA. Mexico's economy could flounder if NAFTA falls apart, which would make it even more enticing for illegals to cross the border.

We're stuck in a paradox of trying to prevent jobs from leaving for Mexico while also preventing Mexicans from illegally seeking work in the US.

Surprised nobody talks about how difficult it will be to accomplish these two things.
