but I just don’t see any reason in the OP to be concerned about that just yet.

I wasn’t concerned when gay people just wanted to get married.

Now they are dressing in drag at schools and encouraging children to switch their genders.

Maybe we should be a bit more concerned about things.

I try to avoid dipping all the way into politics on here, and doing so is the only way I could fully reply to your post. So with that said, I’ll leave it at that while I know that slippery slopes have become an article of faith on both sides of the political spectrum, I think that digging in on stupid positions just to avoid the theoretical slope is less effective in the long run than is choosing better points to dig in. But that’s just my opinion

I started a thread about an announcement for a gameplay trailer and it went completely off the rails. Not touching this one

Maybe this company along side with Crystal Dynamics should avoid thinking thoughts like….“Sure hope nobody wants to go raid a tomb and steal its precious treasures after playing our game. We don’t want our games to create anymore colonizing tomb raiders!”

Cuz we all know that’s what games like Tomb Raider do! So many neck beards stealing moms credit cards in order to fly to Serbia in search for hidden treasure!

Well?

Also, Josh, you mentioned a murder hobo....I started killing everyone once I got my bow. That's my kind of game.

Are you unfamiliar with the concept of character development? A young woman starting with a drive to acquire artifacts but, over the course of over a half dozen narratives, finds that has lost its luster and starts to give more mature thought to what she's doing is about as narratively standard as it comes. The idea that a character's personality and motivations should stay utterly static through decades of media is honestly a bit odd to me.

I get what you are saying but most of the shite she goes after tends to be mystical artifacts that could bring the end of the world if the wrong people get there first. Yeah she has the random collectables she can pick up but usually whatever she is after within the narrative is the kind of stuff that would never be able to be held in a museum.

And yet the game reboots did quite well. Weirdly not ruined…
I wouldn't say that. . .

Of the reboots:

1 was great
2 was ok, but proto woke
3 was full-on woke trash, and objectively the worst of reboots (among the worst of the IP, imo)

The 1st 2 were good. . .but let's be honest, they weren't Tomb Raider games anymore, they were Uncharted.

I for one can’t wait for Womb Raider.

The one where Laura goes in search of herself and finds out she likes women.

I don’t necessarily mind murder heavy games, but it’s not what I’m really looking for when I’m playing TR. I’ll be this side of Shiva is you make me, but I’m more there for the set pieces, puzzles, and traversal. Same thing with Horizon. I’ll go fire up Doom Eternal if I just wanna hobo

Eta: Who am I kidding… if I just want to hobo, I’ll probably do a quick Dark Souls playthrough

It’s interesting, because I consider the first to be the worst of the three, mostly because it’s basically Uncharted. I found the second and third to be much better. Again, not great, and I do want to emphasize that. Not sure I’ll ever play them again. But worth catching on sale and doing a playthrough. But the first? Meh.

That was my jam in Rise of the Tomb Raider. So much enjoyment taking out all those Trinity soldiers with arrows. Well that and fighting with the axe and then jamming an arrow through their neck as a finishing move.

They were all Uncharted

But the 1st 2 were all-go adrenaline rides

the 3rd was just a preachy, boring slog.

I am not sure if I ever beat it, to be honest. I remember starting it 4 different times. Maybe I did, and it just isn't that memorable?

Rise was the most fun to me, but Tomb Raider was the best story. Shadow was a let down.

When the made the new Tomb Raider movie a few years back, they should of done a straight adaptation of Tomb Raider.

The climb to the top and subsequent fall from the tower would have been great
