Both Johnson and Moffett seem to be gaining a lot of control over their breaking pitches. Definitely good to see.

No one rates baseball prospects on a star system.

Development isn't linear and no one is saying scouts are wrong.

You could fill two internets with the shite you "don't get"

In the MLB, especially high school kids, you get drafted on potential and intangibles more than anything. He's a 6'5" 250 pound lefty that throws gas. He is extremely far from being a finished product. Big pitchers often take some time to figure out their own body and mechanics, which is very much the case with Cam.

He has 5 star talent and potential through the roof. Even if he would have taken the money and went pro, he would still need multiple years in the minors to iron out the kinks. No one said he had no skill. As far as confidence, in his first appearance he couldn't throw a strike to save his life because of mechanics and probably trying to overthrow. So Jay put the training wheels back on and is trying to mold all these intangibles into a real pitcher.

What are you talking about? C. Johnson is being brought along slowly like a young pitcher should. Last night was the first time we saw him commanding his curve ball in live game action.

All is ok with him and development is happening. There are no issues with him other then CJJ is not throwing him to the wolves. MLB drafts on potential and plans on development. He has all the natural talent you want. Now we got him in our pitching lab and working on his development. If all keeps working the way it should he will get some quality opportunities further in the season.

You mean the guy who is tied for the team lead in appearances? Sure, why not give him a shot.

Well we wouldn't want to get 10 run ruled on a Sunday, now would we?

No bro we gotta keep doing what we’ve been doing on a Sunday. Broski said it’s dumb to start the highest rated pitcher we’ve ever had reach campus on a Sunday SEC start. It may stunt his growth and what not.

What's more dumb. Start C. Johnson when he can only throw one pitch over the plate for a strike? (his fastball) Or give him time in Tuesday night games so he can work on settling down and start commanding his slider and Curveball?

Also he has not thrown more then one inning this season and your asking CJJ to put him to be the Sunday starter against SEC teams? Let me guess ya'll would start him on Sunday at Arkansas and see what happens?

Last night was a step in the right direction. There will be more steps this season. By the end of the season C. Johnson's role on the pitching staff will be much bigger then it is now.

Well Hurd, outside of the postseason last year, crumbles under the first sign of pressure. Yes, I am of the opinion to give Cam a start and a short leash. But it isn’t just him… I’d be willing to see what a few different guys could offer in that role.

So in high school he could only throw a fastball? If so he was way overrated. Hard to believe he was so highly rated but can't throw strikes.

I don't think you understand how baseball scouting works

Was Johnson on the roster for the SEC games. Aren’t we limited to 24 or 25 players?

27. And we haven't been updated on the SEC weekend rosters since Luke Johnson was the beat writer.

You don't give millions to someone who can't throw strikes. If that was the case every college pitcher would be in the minor leagues.

Clearly regressed since arriving and that's a coaching problem or the stage is just too big for him and he needs to transfer elsewhere to LSUE.
