Tried looking back a couple pages, but didn't see anything on this. What was yalls thoughts on this call? Ended up working out, but seemed a little sketchy to me at the time.

We were up 7 with around 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter and went for it on 4th & 1 from the 27, when we could have gone for the FG and gone up two scores. We made the 4th down, and then ended up kicking a field several plays later from the 29 and made it to go up by 10. This did also end up killing another 1 - 1.5 minutes of clock and two Florida timeouts which is huge in that situation.

But say we don't make it on 4th, then Florida goes down and ties it... I do believe the field goal would have been from the opposite hash with a freshman kicker, so you do have to account for that.

My thought is it was a horrible spot and shouldn’t have even been 4th down

I don't understand your point? The right call to win the game on the road is to get the yard. We had controlled the line of scrimmage all night.

Not every week is the same and you play those decisions based off situations in the game. During that point in the game going for it was the only call.

You had the momentum and we’re moving the ball on the ground.

I was all for it

Easy decision if you have good special teams and a kicker like Cade York. We have neither, so I didn't mind it. But then we're forced to try the field goal after two penalties. It worked out.

I think the situation is that you call based on how you're playing. If this was the game against Tennessee, I kick based on the offense. The way they played on Saturday? I go for the dagger.

The offense was dialed in and Florida had no answer for what LSU was doing offensively. Only self-inflicted wounds stopped the LSU offense. Florida was lucky at that point.

I trust Williams more than our defense and special teams. You absolutely go for it in that situation.

Appropriate context.

Against Tennessee, the OL was getting stonewalled and a 4th and 1 run was a bad call.

We were pushing the Florida DL back one or two yards on every play. I was all for it.

4th and 1 on the 27, going for it was the right call.

Few plays, False start, & a sack later 4th & 14 on the 29, kicking the field goal was the right call.

Initially I questioned leaving the easy field goal try as well. Then I thought about analytics. In that particular game, the analytics said that we would most likely get that yard, chew up time and still get an opportunity to score either the TD or an easier FG. I was talking to a buddy about how may 4th downs that BK goes for. He made the mad hatter look sane. My buddies response was that the mad hatter did it when nobody else was. Thats the difference. Teams now have analytics calling plays more than traditional sentiment.

With our ST play there was a better chance of getting the FG blocked than failing on 4th and 1.

Agreed on that one, and also am just happy that it worked out.

Was just thinking back on how big that play call was. We all know that if it didn't work and UF ended up tying it, then winning after that, a lot of people would be calling for Kelly's head for that specific play call.

Regardless we won, so Geaux Tigers and on to the next one
